Thibaut Courtois waits for decision on his future

On-loan Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is undecided on his future and is waiting for a decision from parent club Chelsea.

Courtois joined Chelsea in 2011 but is yet to make a start for the Blues and has spent the last three years on loan at Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old Belgian is focusing on the upcoming Champions League final and the 2014 FIFA World Cup and his future is likely to be decided after the World Cup. But Courtois insists that he wants to play regularly, which might not be possible at Chelsea considering Petr Cech just won the Golden Glove award this season.

Speaking after Atletico Madrid lifted the La Liga trophy at Camp Nou after drawing 1-1 with Barcelona, Courtois said: “I am not sure yet what happens next season. It is a great feeling to be champions of Spain.”

“We have the Champions League final next week and then the World Cup. Now is not the time to think about my future. If I move somewhere, I will play. At my age, the most important thing for me, and what I want to do, is to play.”

He also spoke about Petr Cech and his future with the Blues, “Petr is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he won the Golden Glove in the Premier League this season. I have a lot of respect for him.

“I have two years [left on my] contract with Chelsea, so we will see what they decide.”

Atletico are reportedly keen to have Courtois back next season but the decision ultimately lies with Chelsea.
