Manchester City have already lost thrice this season in the league, and a prime reason for the same has been the frightening list of injuries.

Aymeric Laporte, arguably the club's best center-half, has been a huge miss for the Cityzens. Injuries to David Silva, Ederson and Leroy Sane amongst other setbacks have dented their hopes of retaining the title.

A blow to Oleksandr Zinchenko was a bad news as well, meaning the fragile Benjamin Mendy - who is yet to really announce himself as a Manchester City player - would man the left back spot.

Zinchenko isn't a full-fledged full back, while Mendy, besides the major injury setbacks, doesn't seem to have found Guardiola's reliance on himself. Summer signing Angelino was given the nod against both Liverpool and Southampton.

Amid such uncertainty, dishing out the money for Ben Chilwell wouldn't be a bad idea. This would not only result in an English addition, but also an in-form candidate who could thrive under this complex system.

The City fullbacks don't necessarily hug the touchline or spend a lot of time defending. They're allowed to make knifing runs, besides the usual freedom. In the attritional style of winning the ball back, probably none other than Ben Chilwell would thrive as much.
