A common theme in individual accolades throughout football history has been the awarding of individual prizes to the best player of the winning team.
It is a no brainer that the winners of club tournaments should be rewarded, and for better or worse, the man who was most responsible for their performance is usually decided as the best player of the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo was the most important player in Real Madrid's Champions League triumph, and as such, he undoubtedly deserves To be named the UEFA Men's Player of the Year.
