With Man City not being shy in the transfer market and now with the likely addition of Alvaro Negredo, it looks like some of the squad will need to make way. A few of the fringe players will be looking for another club as they could still do a job in any league in Europe.
Scott Sinclair is one of these players. He is decent forward but will need to find a club where he will have a consistent run in the team. Sinclair works best as a winger cutting in and finding space to have a shot at goal. It was playing in this role at Swansea that earned him his move to Man City in the first place.
He can be deployed as a forward but with his confidence low it may be a better idea to start him in a position he is most comfortable in. These are the top five teams which Scott Sinclair would be given the time to shine in the right formation.
Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino likes to have his teams playing in a counter attacking style with plenty of energy. Southampton will likely start with a 4-1-4-1 formation with Wanyama in a deeper role and Schneiderlin, Cork playing in the centre midfield role covering Wanyama while providing a support for the counter attacks. Sinclair and Ramirez would be the wider players in the midfield and will find space cutting inside and allowing the full backs to overlap and become make shift wingers.
Ramirez and Sinclair would be a great support for the lone forward and make a 343 when attacking. Having this approach would allow Ramirez and Sinclair to have more of a free role and give the full backs space to make an impact out wide. Sinclair would find the form which he had at Swansea in this system and a loan would give him the opportunity to still be in the shop window for another team to make a bid in the future, otherwise a full time move to the Saints.
PSV Eindhoven
PSV have been in shadow of Ajax in recent years and will be looking to get back to the top of the Eredivisie. PSV have always been an attacking force and will always play with the Dutch swagger of passing and moving with purpose. Sinclair would fit into the PSV system and would find the Eredivisie a good test of his abilities.
PSV have already got themselves Kerim Rekik from Man City and this may help with the process as the links are clearly good terms as City would have rejected any move for any of their players. Sinclair would have the chance to play in Europe again on a regular basis and this would interest City as they could get a more rounded scout report. Having lost Dries Mertens there is a vacancy on the left of PSV’s front three.
Villarreal
Villarreal have just been promoted to La Liga after spending a season in Segunda Liga, having come back up and ready to get back to the Champions league places which they were once accustomed too. Sinclair would suit La Liga as the league is a tactical and patient league which only the best players will find a way of defeating the brick wall defence and marathon runners of midfielders. The tactical and panache style of the league would give Sinclair his stage to shine.
He would have the chances in the team out wide and would have the chance to play against the best in the world, he will need to step up and prove his worth. His pace would also give Villarreal a different option in attack in a league in which speed is a real virtue due to it’s rarity.
Genoa
Genoa manager Fabio Liverani set his Genoa team last season to attack and pressure all over the pitch, being first to everything and giving everything each week. The system which Genoa use would give Sinclair the opportunity to use Gliardino as a target man and someone to play in and around. Sinclair cutting inside to find Gilardino and then looking for the return would give him bags of confidence even if he doesn’t get the ball back as finding the space would let him know it’s possible and he will need to take his chance when it arrives. Gilardino is like a deluxe version of Danny Graham who Sinclair enjoyed bouncing the ball off in similar fashion at Swansea.
West Brom
Manager Steve Clarke likes his team to play with fearless attacking style with die hard defending. West Brom will miss Romelu Lukaku this season as he not only scored his fair share but often found himself out wide for some parts of the season. Sinclair is a wide man so he would find the system fitting for his abilities. Sinclair would have the opportunity in a good midfield under a supportive manager; his low confidence will be picked up by Clarke so Sinclair can do what he does best. West Brom is a positive environment to push on a player, and as Lukaku showed last season, a great place to find confidence if on loan.
