Without further ado, let's take a look at the top transfer news, rumours and updates that made headlines on 11 January 2019.

Manchester United to offer Paul Pogba in exchange for Douglas Costa

Rumours surrounding a potential Paul Pogba exit has been on the cards for quite a while now. However, they hadn't been as rife as they used to be following the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the immediate upturn in form for Manchester United's talisman Paul Pogba.

Now, Tuttosport are back to force them worry lines back on the faces of Manchester United fans. They claim that the Red Devils have now offered the World Cup winner to his former club in the hopes of securing the services of Brazilian winger Douglas Costa.

There were various reports that came out in the past weeks that suggested that Paul Pogba is seen as indispensable to the current Manchester United setup and that he will not be put up for sale. Pogba's issues with Mourinho had severely affected his performances on the pitch and it looked like something had to give.

However, Pogba has been playing with a smile and a spring in his step ever since Mourinho was asked to step down. As such, this looks highly unlikely in the current circumstances for two reasons. Manchester United have a surplus of wingers and most of them are in good form.

Paul Pogba's marketability is something that is very difficult to match and Douglas Costa will not, in any manner, prove to be a like-for-like replacement for the central midfielder.

Alberto Moreno will not renew his contract at Liverpool

Andy Robertson has been nothing short of a revelation. It was a timely one too for Liverpool as Alberto Moreno's inconsistency was starting to cost the side dearly. Needless to say, Moreno has struggled for game time ever since and now wants to leave the club after letting them know that he won't be signing an extension, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The 26-year-old Spaniard recently returned after recovering from an injury and played in Liverpool's defeat to Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup. The report claims that Moreno is keen on making a switch to Sevilla.

He remains keen to make the move either by the end of this month or in the summer and is reportedly looking to find a suitable location for his family.

AC Milan draw up potential replacements for Gonzalo Higuain

According to Calcio Mercato, AC Milan are ready to do everything within their power to retain Gonzalo Higuain as he looks increasingly likely to move to Chelsea. AC Milan will let go of the Argentine striker only if he is to publicly make a transfer request.

However, that does not mean that they are not without contingency plans. AC Milan have already lined up potential replacements. Alvaro Morata of Chelsea and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid are all potential targets.

However, the player that Leonardo and Maldini want to bring to the club is none other than Manchester United's Anthony Martial. The mercurial winger is having a fine domestic season and Il Rossoneri will have to offer United a deal that they simply can't refuse if they are to prise the Frenchman away in January.

Real Madrid have signed Jose Lopez Martinez, also known as, Chechu Martinez from Malaga, as per Marca. The 17-year-old can slot in at centre-back just as well as he can at left-back. Real Madrid will hope that they can benefit from his strength and versatility.

Chechu Martinez revealed the information on Instagram.

He said,

"As of today, I'm a part of the greatest club in the world, Real Madrid C.F.,

"It'll be a source of pride for me, and at the same time a huge challenge, to wear this shirt."

The under-17 international's signing will be Real Madrid's second in the same week after having completed a deal for Brahim Diaz earlier this week. Chechu's deal will also see Dani Sanchez returning to Malaga from Real Madrid.

Barcelona offer £50 million + player for Willian

According to The Mirror, after getting rebuffed thrice, the Cules are back in for Brazilian winger Willian and have offered to pay £50 million + Malcom in order to strengthen their ranks. Malcom joined Barcelona last summer for £38 million but has failed to live up to expectations.

With even Coutinho struggling to find a place in the starting XI, Malcom has a long way to go before making it back to the team and Barca are ready to write him off as bad business and are willing to offload him if that helps them secure the services of Willian in the process.

Willian hasn't had a great season himself and this could be a great deal for Chelsea. Willian is 30-years-old and has only 2 years left in his contract and if the Blues are going to sell him, it is highly unlikely that they will be offered a deal like this in the future.
