Harry Maguire is reportedly all set to become a Manchester United player as the clubs agree a fee of £80m

The Red Devils have finally made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire. As per latest reports, Maguire is all set to join Manchester United after the two clubs agreed to a fee of £80 million.

The Foxes were not keen on letting go of their star defender and were ready to shut the gates if United did not cough up £80 million. The Old Trafford outfit finally came around and agreed to meet Leicester's valuation with around £10 million to be paid in conditional clauses.

It was reported earlier in the week that Maguire informed the club about his intention to leave and the club agreed that they will let him go for the right price. Maguire is expected to be paired with Victor Lindelof at centre-back and help bring the best out of the Swede who had put in several impressive performances despite the rest of the defence struggling last season.

Manchester United's earlier bids had been rejected and Brendan Rodgers had confirmed the same.

"Harry's a top quality player and no-one has come near the valuation to tempt the club to sell."
"The other club interested is a huge club, but he's a really good guy. I've been in this position a number of times and it's never easy but he's taken part in everything and hasn't showed anything other than sheer professionalism.
"You've seen that tonight with the 45 minutes he played."

Griezmann admits Neymar deal could be complex

Antoine Griezmann, who recently joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid on a €120 million deal might still not end up being the Catalans' biggest signing this summer. Neymar wants to return to the Camp Nou and Barcelona are trying to put together a deal that the Parisians will deem acceptable.

When asked about Neymar's potential return to the Camp Nou, the French World Cup winner said,

"Before talking about it first they would have to complete the deal because it's a complex transfer,"
"He's a good player. He had a couple of injuries but he's at an incredible level.

However, Griezmann went on to add that Barcelona already have a lot of attacking firepower even without the Brazilian.

"We also have Dembele, Coutinho and Malcom, who are important for us and we hope to do great things with them."

In what is a very positive piece of news for Manchester United supporters, star goalkeeper David de Gea has now revealed that he is keen on club captaincy as he inches closer towards signing a new contract.

The Spanish international, who has been all set to put pen to paper on a 6 year deal which will see him earn somewhere between £350,000 and £375,000 a week, said,

“I’ve been captain for some games,”
“Of course, it is amazing to be captain of a club like Manchester United and defend this badge. It’s amazing, so of course I’ll be really, really happy to captain.”
“It’s my ninth season, I feel like one of the most experienced players.
“I need to show that on the pitch and try to help the young guys know what Manchester United means and that’s important.”

Toby Alderweireld expects to stay at Tottenham Hotspur

Set for stay?

Toby Alderweireld's £25 million release clause will expire this Thursday and the Belgian, who has been a subject of interest to AS Roma, has now revealed that he expects to stay put at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to the media after Tottenham's 3-2 win against Juventus in a pre-season friendly, Alderweireld said,

“Yes (I expect to still be a Spurs player at the start of the season).
"That’s my focus in football. Everything can go quick, but all I’m doing is focusing on Spurs and being fit for the start of the season."
“I think the manager knows I am committed to the club and the team, but you never know in football. Against Juventus I was captain – so that shows the manager has trust in me and I’m showing the right attitude.
“Again, it (a club triggering the clause) can happen but my focus is on Spurs and in my head I will be playing for Spurs."

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid discussing Neymar-Bale swap deal

Neymar's camp is trying to figure out a way to solve their peculiar situation by engineering a swap deal that will see Gareth Bale heading to Paris Saint-Germain from Real Madrid and Neymar going the other way.

The Brazilian is desperate to move from Paris Saint-Germain and Zinedine Zidane confirmed yesterday that the club is willing to let go of Bale at the earliest.

Zidane said,

"Bale was left out because the club are trying to sell him. If he can go tomorrow, it would be better.
"It's nothing personal, I don't have anything against Bale, but I have to make decisions. There comes a time when it's time to change and it's good for everyone to go their separate ways.
"Leaving is the decision of the coach, and also the player, who knows the situation."

Bale's camp did not take well to Zizou's ruthless comments and Bale's agent hit back, calling Zidane a disgrace.

"If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing."
"He's still one of the best players in the world, one of the top five, and his future will continue at a great club."
