Manchester United will finalize Harry Maguire deal if they sell Lukaku

It doesn't sound a lot like Manchester United are working with a huge transfer budget in this summer transfer window. Currently, Harry Maguire's proposed move to Manchester United will go over the line only if Manchester United are able to offload Romelu Lukaku.

Juventus have now emerged as the frontrunners to secure the services of the Belgian international after edging past Serie A rivals Inter Milan who have been linked with Lukaku for a long time now.

Manchester United have already rejected a €60 million bid from the Nerazzurri and are holding out for a sum in excess of £79 million- the amount that they paid Everton when they signed Lukaku from Merseyside in the summer of 2017.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on bolstering his defence and has urged the board to accelerate the process following Eric Bailly's injury during the Red Devils' pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it has now been revealed that Manchester United will only finalize the Maguire deal if Lukaku is sold. Leicester want close to £80 million for the English centre-back and United hope to raise funds for the move through Lukaku's sale.

Meanwhile, Juventus are trying to engineer a swap deal in order to reduce United's asking price for Lukaku. They are reportedly willing to offer Paulo Dybala in exchange for Lukaku. Manchester United could do well with a top quality attacking midfielder and thus they have the edge over Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers chose to remain coy on the matter. On being asked about the potential departure of Maguire, he said,

“I haven’t really thought about that,”
“We have two weeks left to go in the window for all of the players. I think it’s just a case of everyone staying in focused.”

When Rodgers was asked if Leicester would accept a satisfactory bid from Manchesster United, he said,

“It’s all about ifs, but we haven’t had that.”

Jurgen Klopp plays down possibility of new signings

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool may continue to remain quiet in this summer transfer window and said that he doesn't know how clubs like Manchester City do it. Klopp said that they don't live in "fantasia land" like four other clubs who can afford to spend as they wish.

“I can't say anything about what other teams are doing. I don't know how they do it.
"We have to pay bills. Sorry. Everybody has to pay bills; we have to pay bills. We invested money in this team. Now it looks like we are not. But we are not in this fantasia land where you just get whatever you want.
“You cannot do it constantly. It looks like there are four clubs in the world who can do it constantly. Madrid, Barcelona, (Man) City and PSG. Whatever they need, they do. You cannot compare that. That is the situation.
“It is not a criticism. I know how people will take it, that I am jealous or whatever. I am not at all jealous.”

Mathias Pogba's brother says Paul Pogba can help Real Madrid

Will Paul Pogba be a Manchester United player next season or will he join Real Madrid?

It looks like Paul Pogba's camp is pretty sold on a move to Real Madrid. The Frenchman had aired his desire to play for Real Madrid last season and had suggested during an interview that it might be time for him to try out "new challenges".

Now, Paul Pogba's brother Mathias' comments suggest that a rule to Real Madrid cannot be ruled out yet. This comes on the back of several reports claiming that Los Blancos are going to make one last effort to sign Pogba this summer.

Mathias who joined Spanish 3a side C.D. Manchego Ciudad Real said,

"My brother... I think that any team can help. If he plays Madrid, he will help Madrid.
"I always want the best for my brother. If he thinks he is the best team for him, he will come."

Rumenigge slams Barcelona's signing of Griezmann

General Director of Bayern Munich Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that the sums that are being paid in the world of football are worrying him. Speaking to Bild, he said,

"The market has changed completely. What causes me concern is not only the amounts for transfer; 100 or 120 million euros are no longer spectacular.
I am much more worried about the salaries that are being paid, especially in Spain, England and Italy . The trend is going towards paying net salaries. We have to be careful not to destabilize our salary order. The dimensions are enormous, "

He also slammed Griezmann's move to Barcelona saying that it could act as a dangerous precedent as clubs could be forced to shell out huge amounts of money in the future.

"For example Griezmann, millionaire salary of two figures a year and net. All this must be multiplied by two since the club is responsible for paying taxes. "

He also added that Bayern Munich will not take part in these "crazy things".

Amid a barrage of reports suggesting that the Argentine midfielder could be offered to Manchester United by Juventus in a potential swap deal for Romelu Lukaku, Paulo Dybala has reportedly made his mind up to stay in Turin and fight for a place in Maurizio Sarri's setup.

As per the report, Dybala is set to return from his summer vacation and is going to be prepared to learn Sarri's methods. Tottenham Hotspur are also looking to put together an offer for Dybala. However, budget constraints are an impediment.

Inter Milan are also in for Romelu Lukaku. However, Inter have already had a £53.9 million bid rejected by Manchester United. United will not sell Lukaku for any amount less than £79 million and Inter are not ready to match the Red Devils' valuation of the Belgian striker.
