All eyes were on Manchester City after Liverpool's comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bournemouth yesterday and Pep Guardiola's men did not fail to impress. Manchester City went up against Chelsea at the Etihad stadium and looked like an indestructible force as they stormed past Chelsea with a colossal 6-0 win.

The game began with City taking the lead in the 4th minute through a Raheem Sterling goal and since then began Chelsea's destruction as within the opening 25 minutes City were 4-0 up. Sergio Aguero after missing a sitter in the 8th minute made up for his mistake when he scored a screamer from 25-yards out into the top right corner a few minutes later.

A loose back pass by Ross Barkley and Aguero's brilliant anticipation gave the citizens an unassailable 3-goal advantage with only 19 minutes on the clock. Ilkay Gundogan too joined the party as he scored in the 25th minute to further Chelsea's humiliation.

The first half ended with the reigning champions 4-0 up and Chelsea were left with a herculean task of scoring four goals in the next 45 minutes. The second half began with Chelsea maintaining possession but a foul on Sterling by Cesar Azpilicueta inside the box resulted in a penalty which was successfully converted by Aguero to complete his 11th overall Premier league hattrick. City continued with their traditional passing game and Sterling put the final nail in the coffin as he tapped into the net from six yards out after a beautiful passing spectacle from the citizens.

The game ended 6-0 in favor of the hosts and saw them taking the pole position ahead of Liverpool as they have a superior goal difference. Chelsea witnessed their worst league defeat since 1991 when they were beaten 7-0 by Nottingham Forest and have now slumped to the 6th position behind rivals Arsenal FC.

We shall now take a look at how the Twitterverse reacted to Chelsea's 6-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City.
