Football fans around the world remain divided following leaks disclosing the winner of the 2018 Ballon d’Or award. The prestigious individual award has been dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the last decade, however, that may change this year.
Spanish radio, Onda Cero, claims to have gotten the result of the final voting, with Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, projected as the winner. The Spanish radio has also disclosed that Cristiano Ronaldo will finish second, with Antoine Griezmann coming third.
This comes after earlier reports suggested both Ronaldo and Messi have been omitted from the top three list. The initial reports named Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane, and Modric as the players who have made the Ballon d’Or top three list.
However, things appear to have changed, although the Croatian captain remains in the reported list, and is reportedly set to scoop the prize.
Modric has already won the UEFA Best Player award, as well as the FIFA Best Player award for his impressive performance in the year under review.
