#3 Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes)

One of the most in-demand young midfielders in world football, Eduardo Camavinga, missed out on the senior France squad for Euro 2020.

The 18-year old is already a regular in the Rennes First XI and has notched up 80 appearances in all competitions for the club. Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or in central midfield, Camavinga's composure and defensive attributes have seen him linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

The youngster has earned three caps with France's senior squad and has scored a goal as well. Camavinga will surely be a mainstay for his country in years to come, but with the likes of Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante named in the Euro 2020 squad, he will have to wait for the time being. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Arsenal are said to be interested in signing the midfielder.

#2 Tanguy Ndombele (Tottenham Hotspur)

Tottenham Hotspur endured a poor 2020/21 campaign, but Tanguy Ndombele was one of their better players throughout the season.

Ndombele joined Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon in 2019 for an eye-watering fee of £54 million. Given France's quality in the midfield areas, Ndombele's exclusion is understandable, even though his unique abilities could have offered France manager Didier Deschamps something different at Euro 2020.

A good dribbler and chance creator, the 24-year old made 33 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Ndombele, like Camavinga, will have to be patient.

#1 Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich)

One of the best young centre-backs in world football, it was surprising to see Deschamps opt for Barcelona's Clement Lenglet ahead of Dayot Upamecano for Euro 2020.

Upamecano will join Bayern Munich this summer from RB Leipzig and is highly-rated. The 22-year old is renowned for his passing ability and physical qualities, and given Lenglet's poor season, would have been a better option to have at Euro 2020.

France have the likes of Kurt Zouma, Raphael Varane and Presnel Kimpembe as their other centre-back options, while Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez can play their as well. With such strong depth, Upamecano's exclusion from the Euro 2020 makes sense. However, he will surely be a part of the core for the France national team in the near future.
