What’s the story?

Antonio Conte not being happy with the squad he has right now is a known fact. The manager is planning to improve his squad in January but has been told that he needs to sell a couple of players to fund a high profile signing.

As per reports in Le10 Sport, Chelsea are keen on signing Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian has not been a regular for the French side ever since Kylian Mbappe joined them and is reportedly looking for a move away.

For Conte to get Moura, he's set to sacrifice Willian. The report suggests that the 29-year-old winger will be leaving Stamford Bridge in January as the manager is not happy with his efforts on the pitch and in training.

In case you didn’t know...

Lucas Moura was a regular on the right wing for PSG but is bench warming these days. He's not willing to stay there as he wants to play regularly and earn his spot in the Brazilian National Team for next year's World Cup.

The heart of the matter

As per reports in Le10 Sport, Moura is available for a just £27 million as PSG will try and make as much money as possible from player sales to avoid Financial Fair Play punishments. Willian was signed for a similar amount, but has failed to live up to the expectations.

Willian has been in a similar situation at Chelsea and has lost his place to Pedro. And now, with Conte opting for a 3-5-2 formation, he's not even in contention to be the first choice substitute.

Author’s Take

Replacing Willian with Lucas Moura would be a brilliant thing for Chelsea. The PSG star is a better player than Willian – who has not been at his best ever since the sad demise of his mother.
