Not going anywhere!

Wolfsburg have released a statement regarding Julian Draxler. The German club has ended the midfielder’ s hopes of joining a European Giant this summer by stating that they will not be selling him under any circumstances.

Draxler revealed in an exclusive interview to BILD that he has an offer to leave the club. The German revealed that he had informed the Bundesliga club of his wishes to leave the club this summer, way before he left for the Euro 2016.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and Juventus are said to be interested in signing the German midfielder with Wenger especially said to be keen on bringing him to Emirates this summer. Julian Draxler is said to be an Arsenal fan and also has his heart set on a move to London.

The German midfielder claimed in his interview that he had a verbal agreement with Wolfsburg that he could leave them as soon as a 'big club' came calling. The club though have rejected all such claims and said that they had no such agreement on paper or in verbal with the player.

Wolfsburg have also revealed that Draxler does have a release clause in his contract but that only comes in effect in the summer of 2017.

The former Schalke 04 star was only signed last summer for €34 million and was a vital part of the Wolfsburg team that finished 8th in the Bundesliga last season. He managed to score 5 goals and notch up 5 assists in his 19 apps for the club in the German league last season.

Draxler’s teammate, Andre Schurrle has already left the club this summer to join rivals, Borussia Dortmund and this is also a very important reason why Wolfsburg don’t want to let go of Julian too!

Wolfsburg released the following statement:

The Supervisory Committee and the Board of Directors at VfL Wolfsburg Fußball-GmbH feel the need to comment on the interview with Julian Draxler which was published in the ‘BILD’ newspaper, in order to clarify the current situation and dispel any possible resulting rumours.

VfL Wolfsburg wish to make it absolutely clear that at no time did those responsible at the club make either written nor oral commitments on the transfer of Julian Draxler within the current transfer period, which is due to end on August 31st, 2016. This is reiterated by a contractual release clause agreed upon with Julian Draxler and his management, which does not come into effect until summer 2017.

VfL Wolfsburg will not be selling Julian Draxler during the course of the current transfer period.

In joint discussions with Julian Draxler, VfL Wolfsburg again made it clear that they would not be granting the player’s wish to make a move. We now consider any possible uncertainties to have been eradicated and that all parties can revert back to a professional and responsible collaboration for the good of VfL Wolfsburg and, in particular, for our fans.
