Barcelona legend Xavi thinks Pep Guardiola is nothing short of a winner and the Catalan manager can deliver three or four trophies this season at Manchester City. He also revealed that the former Barcelona manager’s ambition is to win it all.

“Pep is a winner,” said Xavi in an interview to Goal. “He won the treble with Barcelona and he can win three or four trophies this season,” the midfielder said.

He also praised Manchester City’s squad, "He will want to win it all this season, and with the squad Manchester City have there is no reason he can't achieve that.”

Xavi was an integral part of Guardiola’s incredible treble-winning Barcelona side in 2008-09. Xavi also revealed that the former Bayern Munich manager will not just want to win the Premier League or the Champions League but every competition his team compete in.

“He will want to win it all, of course, the league and Champions League are special - but his ambition will be to win every competition,” he said.

Pep Guardiola won 14 trophies at Barcelona, a treble in his first year in charge to start his managerial career. He has won 22 trophies as a manager with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

City will buy world-class players

Xavi went on to speak more about Manchester City’s squad and the players Guardiola will bring to the squad.

“Manchester City don't have a second team - it's unfair to call them that. Of course, Pep will make changes in the domestic cup competitions,” he said. “The players he will be bringing in will be world class international players - that is the strength of the Manchester City squad,” he added.

The Spanish midfielder also recognized the importance of a complete squad for competing in multiple silverwares.

Xavi has also revealed that despite a good start, the Manchester City players will not be allowed to slack by their manager until they emerge as the champions. “Manchester City have already established a nice lead in the Premier League, but I know Pep and he will not allow complacency in the dressing room,” the Al Sadd player said.

“They could be 20 points clear - and he would still not allow complacency. Until the league is won - he will insist on full focus,” he further added.

Manchester City are now the league leaders with 15 points and will face Swansea City on Saturday.
