Fortnite skins are the lifeblood of the game. Since it's free to play, the developers keep the gears turning via the sale of cosmetics in the Item Shop. Over the years, the number of skins available in the game has increased exponentially, and business is booming year-round. However, not all skins are at the top of their game.

Some stand out for their aesthetics and relevance to the ongoing theme of the season, while others are slowly forgotten about with the passing of time. With that said, here are three once-popular Fortnite skins that have lost their charm and three that are currently all the rage in-game.

Kymera and other once-popular Fortnite skins that have all but lost their charm

1) Beast Boy

Introduced in Chapter 2 Season 6, Beast Boy was the perfect skin for the prevalent primal theme of the time. Adding to the fact that Rebirth Raven was an NPC on the island and an exclusive skin in the Battle Pass, players wasted no time buying Beast Boy from the Item Shop.

However, over time, his popularity diminished. Although the Go Ape Built-In Emote is still undoubtedly satisfying to use, the overall hype surrounding the character has died down. Furthermore, with the theme of the ongoing season being far from primal, he doesn't fit in anymore.

2) Kymera

Introduced in Chapter 2 Season 7, the Kymera skin took the community by storm. Despite being an exclusive Battle Pass skin, when added to the game, it ranked ninth for a good reason. Kymera can be customized with different aesthetics to fit the personal taste of the user.

Although unlocking all the parts was rather troublesome as it had to be done in the form of weekly challenges, those who completed them all were well rewarded. However, once The Last Reality was defeated at the end of Chapter 2 Season 8, no one wanted to use the Kymera skin anymore.

3) Tune Squad LeBron

LeBron James was the first NBA player to be added to Fortnite. Much like Giannis Antetokounmpo's in-game arrival, his was also celebrated with a lot of pomp and show. Furthermore, since the collaboration was centered around the cross-promotion of the film, Space Jam: A New Legacy, the hype was surreal.

Sadly, after debuting at the 19th spot in-game as one of the most used skins, he is now ranked 587th. Given that this cosmetic is part of the Icon Series, it's a rather sad state of affairs. His other in-game styles and outfits are not faring any better.

Surf Witch and other Fortnite skins that are all the rage in Chapter 4 Season 1

1) Aura

Based on the data collected over the past three years, it's safe to say that Aura continues to be the most popular skin in Fortnite. She was ranked 12th at the start of Chapter 2 Season 1. Currently, in Chapter 4 Season 1, she's ranked fifth.

Given how slender the skin is, Aura provides a competitive advantage for players. For this reason, she has been absolutely dominating the scene in-game. Furthermore, since she's considered a "sweaty skin," a lot of "sweats” tend to use her in every match.

2) Surf Witch

The Surf Witch skin currently ranks second in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. Similar to Aura, the skin is slender in design, which allows it to blend in seamlessly with the environment.

However, the Surf Witch skin wasn't always this popular in-game. Despite having a good start in Chapter 2 Season 3, it had fallen from grace by the time Chapter 2 Season 6 began.

Seemingly out of nowhere and without an explanation, Surf Witch’s popularity rose from Chapter 2 Season 7 onward. Based on the data, she has consistently been in a top-five position since Chapter 2 Season 8. Judging by the graph, her popularity will remain unchanged in the coming months.

3) Focus

Focus was first added to the Item Shop in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 9. While the skin is rather simple in terms of design, it managed to catch the attention of the community back in the day. Nevertheless, by the time Chapter 2 Season 1 had begun, it was ranked 185th. According to most players, the skin was destined to fail.

However, barely a season later, the skin ranked high on the charts at 42nd position. Currently, in Chapter 4 Season 1, it ranks sixth on the list of most used skins in Fortnite. Looking at the upward trajectory, its popularity will only increase in the coming months.
