Since Fortnite is constantly changing and evolving, a lot of things keep getting added and removed from time to time. However, some concepts never make it to the game at all. While fans can argue that it's due to creative differences, some of these concepts are brilliant in every way and have the potential to add flavor to the battle royale title.

While the community has highlighted many such innovative ideas in the past, a few more have been found recently. Here are five Fortnite concepts that never made it into the game for reasons unknown.

Calling Cards and 4 other amazing Fortnite concepts that never made it into the game

1) Victory Royale Styles

In the current version of Fortnite, players receive only one standard Victory Royale message. Even when winning a Crowned Victory Royale, the animation that pops up is not much different. However, things could have been different if Epic Games had not scrapped several concepts.

Discovered by leakers a few hours ago, various styles of Victory Royale animations created by visual artist Bryan Rathman were revealed. These included a separate animation for Squad Victory Royales and Team Victory Royales (50vs50 mode).

It also includes a Victory Royale animation that gives off GTA vibes. With all that said and done, it's unclear why Epic Games chose to keep one staple animation for Victory Royales. Considering that variations add more excitement to the game, it's rather puzzling.

2) The Sanctuary

At the start of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, Epic Games added a named location known as The Sanctuary to the map. The region was dedicated to The Seven and was their stronghold on the island. While the POI did look good, it pales in comparison to what it could have looked like.

On the ArtStation page of Canada-based artist Gervasio Canda, leakers discovered a treasure trove of concept art for this POI. The location looks very different from the final version added to the game, leaving the community speechless. Many users wonder why the developers added a normal version of the POI instead of this masterpiece.

3) Portals

Epic Games had initially planned to introduce Portals as a mechanic in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, but things never worked out for some reason. Something similar was in the works for Chapter 3 Season 3, but even that failed to come to fruition.

Although the developers did not reveal any of this in detail, leakers were able to get hold of concept art that provided a breakdown of things. Similar to Rifts, these Portals would have allowed players to move about the map rapidly. Perhaps in some future seasons, they'll be added in-game.

4) Calling Cards

Calling Cards are a familiar concept to most Battle Royale games out there. It allows players to showcase an achievement or perhaps a title. In Fortnite, this feature is non-existent, but once upon a time, the UI for the same did exist. This, too, was created by an artist known as Bryan Rathman.

The North Carolina-based visual designer created several iterations of Calling Cards for the game. The developers could have customized these cards with the player's name, eliminations/wins, a title, and a background. Given how popular these are in games such as Warzone, it's difficult to understand why Epic Games didn't include this feature.

5) Map and challenges UI concept

The pop-up map is one of the best UI concepts that never made it into the game. Created by artist Bryan Rathman, this version of the map pops up on the player's screen rather than taking them off-screen to a new tab. While one can argue that the current UI is much more functional, it also seems to have pros.

A pop-up map with challenges on the side would have made for an interesting design choice. Since players are able to look at their surroundings while using the map, one can say that it has better functionality than the current one. It's truly disheartening to think that this never made it in-game.
