With just a couple of days remaining in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, a lot of information is coming out regarding the new season. According to leaks, there will be a lot of changes.
New mechanics, new skins, new POIs, and more are apparently in store for players based on the vast amount of leaks that have come forth.
Fortnite changes coming in Chapter 4 Season 2
8) Wall running

According to leaks, Fortnite is getting a wall-running mechanic in Chapter 4 Season 2. In Chapter 3 Season 1, sprinting and mantling were introduced, and now, a few seasons later, the game is getting a new wall-running mechanic.
To do this mechanic, players will have to sprint and jump next to a wall. The distance covered during and after wall running depends on the speed.
7) New Katana
The game is also getting this Katana, but it's not a pickaxe. It looks exactly like a pickaxe would, but this is a brand new melee weapon implemented for Chapter 4 Season 2.
This weapon will have a dash attack and a slam attack, likely both rare and powerful.
6) New weapons
Aside from the Katana, there will be a couple of new weapons in the latest season. A unique pump shotgun variant is coming to the loot pool, as is a new Ranger Assault Rifle. Additionally, a smart pistol and rope and chains grenade launcher will make an entry. The latter will the first of its kind in Fortnite.
5) Force powers
May the 4th is coming soon and will be a part of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. As a result, Epic is reintroducing all the Star Wars elements, along with the addition of force powers. These range from lifting to jumping and vacuuming to lightning.
4) New POIs
It's unclear what these codenames refer to, but the next season's POIs have had their codenames leaked. These are likely not the final names and probably just placeholders, but it appears as if six or more POIs are being added for Chapter 4 Season 2.
3) New NPCs
Another leak suggests that Epic Games is introducing new Specialist NPCs, which would include a healer, a supplier, a heavy, and a scout. These presumably could be hired for their services using gold bars. They will also function very differently from past hireable NPCs.
2) Rail grinding
Per iFireMonkey, rail grinding will be another mechanic coming up:
"Chapter 4 - Season 2 will feature rails that you can grind on top of, similar to the rail grinding system in games like Sunset Overdrive. You'll get a speed boost while grinding on rails (with an option to slow down), and you'll get low gravity when jumping off the rails."
Epic Games seems intent on adding more than a few new mechanics to play with this season.
1) Legendary Augments
Augments are already present in Chapter 4 Season 1. These grant various boosts or items to players. In Chapter 4 Season 2, there's expected to be Legendary Augments, which will be significantly better. These will come from interacting with a new Augment Chest.
Augments are ordinarily granted every so often as long as players are still alive. The Fortnite Legendary Augments will be different and might change the way all augments work.
