The new Fortnite Battle Royale map was formed by combining chunks of different islands. This happened during the final cinematic video of the Fracture live event, where the map was revealed for the first time.

The following is a list of all the new locations in Fortnite:

  • The Citadel
  • Anvil Square
  • Shattered Slabs
  • Frenzy Fields
  • Breakwater Bay
  • Slappy Shores
  • Faulty Splits
  • Lonely Labs
  • Brutal Bastion

Additionally, many other locations are not named but are landmarks.

Slurpy Swamp, one of the most popular locations in Fortnite Chapter 2, has partially returned to the video game. Instead of Slurp Juice, however, the factory now produces Slap Juices, a new consumable that restores health.

This location resembles Dusty Depot factories from the first-ever Fortnite map. These factories are beloved by players and were a fantastic landing spot before they were destroyed in Chapter 4.

Fortnite has a visible edge on the map for the first time. This comes as no surprise, considering how the island was formed. However, it will be interesting to see if these edges will apply to the storyline of the new chapter.

Developers have also added select fragments from past Fortnite seasons. The video above shows the Tilted Towers clock during the last live event.

The map takeover

Another new feature will allow players to claim a spot on the map and control it. Epic Games' statement on the new Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map said:

"Conquer with your squad. Stay in a POI’s Capture Point long enough and your team’s Banners will be put on display, marking your team’s control of the POI. In a POI your squad’s claimed, Chests and opponents will be marked. Just watch out for anyone who tries to claim it first."

The video above shows what the new feature looks like and how useful it is. To conquer the location, you need to stay near the flag until the indicator at the bottom of the screen fills up.
