As part of the Week 8 Challenges in Chapter 4 Season 2, players must undertake certain 'activities' in-game. While this is very straightforward, the Anything But First challenge is won by players who are the first to complete an activity in the match.

Milestones and Legacies are important benchmarks in Fortnite. The former provides a steady stream of experience points, while the latter is more about showing off in-game. While these two are important every season, another type of 'objective' can be completed in every match.

To complete 'anything' first in Fortnite, players must be the first in the match to complete a specific task or activity. They can be the first to search chests, first to hunt/tame wildlife, first to land, complete a bounty, and so on. Here's a list of a few such things players can do first:

  • First to get eliminated
  • First to catch a fish
  • First to eliminate a player
  • First to search a chest
  • First to complete a bounty
  • First to land on the island
  • First to hunt/tame wildlife
  • First to harvest items

Since there's no comprehensive list of tasks or activities that players can complete first, there will be a lot of trial and error involved. That said, since most of these are basic, there's a good chance that more than one will be completed first by a player in a match. Here's a step-by-step guide for the same:

  • Start a new match
  • Land quickly and look for a chest to search
  • Look for wildlife to tame and hunt as soon as possible
  • Find a fishing rod and catch a fish quickly

A player can quickly complete these four activities in nearly every match. They are very basic and quickly achievable. However, since this challenge has four stages, completing them will take some time. Once all stages have been completed, 64,000 XP will be rewarded.

In addition to XP from the challenge, players will earn a fair amount of XP by completing each activity. While not much, every little bit helps progress towards seasonal level 200 in the Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass.

Can the activities be repeated in every match?

Yes, since the number of activities/tasks that can be completed first in any given match is limited, players can redo any of them in every match. It will count towards the challenge's progression if they do it before any other player (teammates included).

On that note, since players will have to complete 'anything' first for a total of 20 times, it may take roughly 10 different matches to complete. This takes into account that players can complete at least two things first before anyone else.

That said, taming/hunting wildlife, catching fish, and searching chests first are the go-to activities to complete this challenge. Playing solo matches is also recommended.
