There are numerous ways to win a Fortnite match. Many players try to eliminate everyone they see and win that way. It often leads to impressive stat lines, but it is certainly not the only road to victory.

Many players simply try to outlast the rest. This is usually accomplished by hiding or stockpiling healing items and trying to outlive everyone in the storm. Hiding is a much easier way of going about it.

One Fortnite YouTuber discovered a brand new way to hide and what makes this method particularly useful is that it involves hiding in plain sight. Ordinarily, that wouldn't work, but it is an absolutely perfect tactic. Here's how they did it.

Fortnite YouTuber hides in plain sight with clever trick in Chapter 4 Season 1

This trick involves using the Mystique skin and the built-in emote. If you don't have those, you will struggle to hide in plain sight and cannot complete this particular trick.

The YouTuber in question used Mystique to impersonate an NPC. They did this in the vault, part of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, but the method can still work. Every season has NPCs, so here's how to accomplish this.

Step 1: Equip Mystique skin

Go to your locker and choose the Mystique skin from the locker. This will be a Marvel rarity and if you filter it that way, you can find it pretty easily. Equip this and go back to the lobby to start a match.

Step 2: Find an NPC

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 introduced an entirely new island, meaning new locations and NPCs. The latter spawn in the locations on the map above. In theory, they could all be killed and replaced.

Step 3: Kill one of the NPCs

Each of this season's NPCs can be eliminated, though that is easier said than done. Remember that they will become hostile after the first shot, and they carry more health than you do. Be sure to have plenty of ammo and healing items before you take on an NPC.

Step 4: Use Mystique's emote

Mystique's built-in emote allows her to take the form of the skin she just killed. If she annihilates an NPC, she can then take its form. Use the built-in emote right after successfully eliminating the NPC and healing back up to full health.

Step 5: Mirror the NPC's movements

Pay attention to what the NPC does before killing it. Make sure you can at least imitate their movements. It may be wise to utilize a simple, walking traversal emote, so you're not holding a weapon or a unique pickaxe.

Then you can wait for another unsuspecting player to come by and eliminate them.
