Fortnite Rift Jector Augment: What is it and how to use it 

The Fortnite Rift Augment was introduced to the game following the update v23.30. It falls under the "Combat" category of Reality Augments in Chapter 4 Season 1, but how does it work?

As the name suggests, the Reality Augment creates a Rift when the player's Shield breaks, but it doesn't take the Overshield into account. That said, once the Shield breaks, players are Rift-Jected to safety.

Fans who have been playing since the update v23.30 went live would have likely obtained the Fortnite Rift Augment either directly or indirectly from a teammate by now. But is it worth it?

Is the Fortnite Rift Augment worth the hype in Chapter 4 Season 1?

Although it's present in the "Combat" category, it should have been placed in the "Game-Changer" category. As ironic as this may sound, the Rift-Jector Seat Augment truly is a game-changer for the better, and at times, even for the worse.

Even though the Reality Augment creates the ultimate fail-safe system to keep players alive, it does have certain drawbacks. Since the Rift is triggered as soon as a player's Shield is cracked/broken, rifting at crucial moments may not be the best option.

Suppose that a player is about to use Deku's Smash or Kamehameha on an opponent during the late-game. While suspended in the air, if the opponent manages to break the player's Shield, they will be Rift-Ejected in between the powering up process.

Considering that the player will have to glide back down to the ground to resume combat, the opponent should have ample time to reposition and open fire on the player. If they aim well, the player will likely be eliminated in mid-air.

Even if they fail to inflict damage while the player is in mid-air, once back on the ground, the opponent will be able to get the first shot off at close to mid-range. Here's a video posted by a user called Fluffysnek111 on Reddit that shows a brilliant example of this scenario.

Does this mean that the Fortnite Rift Augment is useless? Absolutely not. In certain situations, being able to get out of an active combat zone using a Rift can be a life-saver. When surrounded or in a vulnerable position in the early-game or mid-game, the Rift-Jector Seat Augment will give players a serious advantage.

As soon as they get rifted, they can head for high ground (if there's any available depending on the terrain) and heal up. Since their enemies must now travel to a new location, they can dig in using Cow Catchers and other items to create a defensive position.

While they may not be able to successfully defeat their enemies, it's still better than being pinned down hopelessly and fired upon from all sides. With all that said, although the Fortnite Rift Augment is extremely useful, players will have to be careful while using it alongside certain items/weapons.

Depending on the playstyle and loadout, this Reality Augment may do more harm than good. On that note, it's still an extremely fun and exciting Reality Augment to own in-game. Nevertheless, the potential addition of a manual trigger for the Fortnite Rift Augment would be for the best. Allowing players to choose how and when to trigger it once their Shields are down would be highly beneficial.
