For reasons currently unknown, the search term “Is Fortnite getting deleted’ has been trending on the internet. Despite Chapter 4 Season 1 being confirmed to start on December 4, 2022, a few individuals don't seem to have received the message.

To think that a game that makes millions a year is "shutting down" on the eve of a major live event is rather comical.

Fortnite is definitely not shutting down or getting deleted now or anytime soon. After having generated $9.1 billion in its first two full years since its launch, the game is only going to get bigger as time goes by. On that note, if profits are in green, why is the search term "Is Fortnite getting deleted" trending?

The "Is Fortnite getting deleted" trend that makes no sense

Without conclusive evidence as to why this search term is trending, the only possible explanation is likely the recent Twitter versus Apple fiasco. Earlier this week, Elon Musk tweeted that Apple could potentially delete Twitter from the App Store.

The tweet kicked off a chain reaction that got Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney taking a jab at Apple once again. Fans chimed in as well, with some stating that Apple deleted Fortnite from its App Store, so having Twitter removed is a possibility.

However, all these rumors were put to rest after Elon Musk tweeted that he had spoken to Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, and had sorted out the matter. Logically, the search term "Is Fortnite getting deleted" should have ended then and there on December 1. However, it's still trending for some strange reason.

If the aforementioned reason isn't the cause of this weird phenomenon, the only other explanation that makes sense is an image that was leaked a few hours ago. Although some have confirmed that it's not fake, it's still up for debate.

Note: Potential spoiler for the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 "Fracture" live event beyond this point.

The explosion is not going to end Fortnite

Coming back to the topic at hand, the image shows The Zero Point going supernova and exploding in a dazzling display of light. According to the lore, when The Zero Point becomes unstable and explodes, it's capable of destroying all life in the metaverse and reality itself.

Given these facts, seeing it go supernova has led some to believe that everything is coming to an end and has led to "Is Fortnite getting deleted" trending on the internet. However, with Chapter 4 being confirmed by Epic Games themselves, this is nothing but a rumor.

While some social media users might use this rumor to gain views and an audience, it's not true in the least. Considering that Donald Mustard, CCO at Epic Games, confirmed that the story would continue for years to come, the metaverse and Fortnite are not going to end anytime soon.

The game is soaring to new heights with a star-studded cast of characters and voice actors, and the storyline is just beginning to truly take shape. That said, the search term "Is Fortnite getting deleted" should die out in a few hours before the Fracture live event starts.
