Prior to the Unreal Editor's release, Fortnite players were able to create custom maps in the Creative mode. Some individuals made fantastic maps despite being constrained by the number of devices and assets they could use. There are no such limitations in Fortnite Creative 2.0. This is a tool for designing complete custom games within Fortnite, and here are some of its most important features:

  • Creating and importing custom 3D models
  • Importing custom animations
  • Coding and programming custom events
  • Editing terrain
  • Live collaboration

While adding custom models and animations is a fantastic thing, the Verse programming language might be its most important feature. It will allow fans to use custom codes and enable Fortnite players to develop new games within the Creative mode.

The page in the screenshot above checks the location of the player and spawns an enemy if the former is close to a checkpoint. This is a simple code, but making this event occur was not possible in the original version of the Creative.

By adding custom scripts and animations, while also being able to manipulate camera angles, players will be able to use Fortnite Creative 2.0 to create custom cutscenes and cinematics.

In addition to this, talented creators will also be able to make new live events with all the new tools. The best part is that creators will be compensated for building popular maps, as Epic Games will share 40% of the Item Shop's net revenue with them.

The first version of Fortnite Creative 2.0 looks impressive, but it remains to be seen what players will make of it. In the meantime, Epic will release more improvements for it and make the Unreal Editor even more amazing.
