A Fortnite x Breaking Bad fan-made meme has gone viral on the internet for several reasons. For starters, it is relatable. The joke refers to a phenomenon that almost every Fortnite player has experienced. Secondly, it's a meme featuring Breaking Bad, one of the best and most-watched television shows of all time.
Here's the viral meme shared by HYPEX on Twitter but originating on TikTok:
The meme makes fun of a Fortnite teammate with no mic, who aggressively presses the "danger" warning to alert team members that an enemy is somewhere nearby, presumably where they are pinging. It features Hector Salamanca from Breaking Bad.
For those who haven't seen the show, Hector is wheelchair-bound and can't speak after an accident. As a result, he uses a bell fashioned into the arm of his wheelchair to communicate, though only in the most rudimentary form.
The meme features a clip of Hector dinging the bell repeatedly to warn the man in front of him, Gustavo Fring, of impending danger in the form of an explosive. It's exactly like the muted or microphone-less teammate trying to warn teammates of imminent danger.
The joke is the perfect combination of two of the biggest pop culture entities of all time. It could not be a more perfect union.
Will Fortnite ever do a Breaking Bad collaboration?
Fortnite x Breaking Bad would be one of the biggest collaborations of all time, involving two major brands that almost everyone is familiar with. It would sell tons of skins and probably bring an entirely new audience to the game.
Over the years, there have been many rumors of a collaboration between the two entities. The most popular one came in 2021 when a Twitter account called FakeniteGame posted an image featuring artwork and an expected release date for the collaboration.
Despite the demands, there are a couple of reasons why the collaboration won't happen. Breaking Bad is a show with adult themes, so it wouldn't be appropriate for the younger audience that Epic Games has.
It should be noted that this hasn't always stopped the game from getting collaborations. Epic Games did it with Rick and Morty and other adult entities.
It's not impossible, but since Breaking Bad ended over a decade ago and was about making and selling drugs, a Fortnite collaboration is pretty far-fetched.
