After much anticipation, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 has finally arrived. It's an exciting time to be a gamer, as there are new skins, a brand new island and so much more to enjoy.

With every new season, there is a new battle pass. The only way to unlock these highly desirable skins is to earn XP, which can be a challenge. Fortunately, there are actual challenges (even on the first day) to start that journey.

One such challenge is to open Oathbound chests in Chapter 4. Here's what those are and how to find them.

Fortnite Chapter 4: A complete guide to Oathbound chests

Step 1: Open Fortnite

The game is live once again following a lengthy downtime. You are able to drop in and play, though there may be a bit of a delay given the high volume of traffic in the game.

Step 2: Drop into a major POI on the left side

This is what the map roughly looks like for Fortnite Chapter 4. There are currently nine major POIs on it. The ones on the "medieval section", like Anvil Square, are great for finding Oathbound chests.

Step 3: Look around for Oathbound chests

There are no guaranteed spawns for Oathbound chests, per se. It's going to require you to run around the POI and look for them. You might find one quickly or not at all, but you have to look.

They do not look like normal chests, nor do they act like them. They drop advanced loot and more loot, much like IO chests or even Chrome chests in the past.

To complete this challenge, you have to open multiple chests. However, even if it's not for the challenges, it's a really good idea to open these chests in Fortnite Chapter 4.

They carry good loot and that can be a difference maker for a game. This is especially true if you get the weapons in the early game and have good loot before others do.

According to iFireMonkey, these are other challenges you can do this week:

  • Land on the new island
  • Visit The Citadel, Anvil Square, and Shattered Slabs
  • Search Oathbound Chests
  • Collect a Shockwave Hammer and an Ex-Caliber Rifle in a single match
  • Activate augments
  • Land at Hot Spots
  • Eliminate opponents
  • Hurdle over objects
  • Reach 10 players remaining in a match
  • Deal damage to opponents with assault rifles or marksman rifles
  • Gain shields

It's always a good idea to start the season by earning a lot of XP while you play and these challenges are a great way to do it. The Chapter 4 Season 1 battle pass is ready for gamers to unlock all it has to offer.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is live now, but your app may need to be updated before you play. Keep in mind that servers are struggling with incredibly high traffic right now as well.
