Fortnite is banned on all Apple devices. Given that the last update available to iOS gamers was Chapter 2 Season 3, they have missed out on many storylines and events. Nevertheless, such a hindrance hasn't stopped players from trying to make the best of the situation possible.

Despite the ban, fans can play the game on iOS devices that have the game installed. But even though fans have been persistent, evidence shows that Fortnite is in a sad state of affairs on iOS devices in 2023.

Redditor u/AgencySpecialist6670 showcases the game running on an old iOS device. It's unclear if the device was left unused for some time or if the player regularly checked in to see if any progress was being made.

Nevertheless, by the looks of it, there's not much to see as things have gone from bad to worse. As seen in the image posted, the game is nothing but broken. While the original poster does not mention how old the device was, given that the game was installed means they were using it now and then.

In all probability, due to the lack of updates, Fortnite on iOS has broken from within, rather than the device being low-end or unstable. It's not uncommon for live service games to break if they aren't maintained via hotfixes and patches. Given that there has been no update since mid-2020, such a situation is no surprise.

Is there any way to play Fortnite on all iOS devices?

As mentioned, the game is banned on all iOS devices, but there is a workaround to get it running. Rather than trying to install the game, players can opt for GeForce Now to play it without any hassle.

While there are minor issues with queue time and network stability, it's a solid alternative. Those willing to pay for the subscription will also receive further benefits, but it's not mandatory.

When will Fortnite come back to iOS devices?

The only individual who has the power to answer this question is Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney. Oddly enough, just after the new year began, he took to Twitter to say this:

"Next year on iOS!"

While it's rather vague and could mean several things, the community believes he's teasing the game's return on iOS devices. Considering that roughly 116 million players were iOS users—a third of the game's playerbase—it was a huge loss to see them barred.

While a workaround for the game exists, there's nothing like booting it directly from the device. There are numerous benefits and next to no drawbacks.

That said, no one knows what Tim Sweeney is hinting at. Given that he has said nothing since tweeting that out, it will take some time to get an update. Hopefully, by the time 2023 ends, iOS players will be able to boot the game directly from their devices and join in on the new year celebrations with players on other platforms.
