The Fortnite Shockwave Hammer was removed a few hours ago, but no one seems to know why. Epic Games took to Twitter to post via their official 'status' account that the item was vaulted due to an 'issue.' However, at this point in time, it's rather unclear what this issue could be.

Given that the Shockwave Hammer was vaulted once before and all glitches/bugs associated with it were fixed, this makes no sense. Furthermore, since the community hasn't complained about anything unusual going on with the item, it makes the case more perplexing.

The only logical explanation as to why the developers removed the item this late into the season is likely that they found it interacting with something in a weird manner. This might be a hunch, but it's possible that the Shockwave Hammer 'perhaps' when tested on certain assets in-game or in the file would 'break.'

Since the community has not complained about it, the developers have likely discovered this glitch/bug themselves. Rather than let players deal with it until the season ends, they decided to vault the item for good measure. That said, it's still rather strange. Here's what players have to say:

Judging by the mixed bag of comments, it's clear to see that not everyone is a fan of the Shockwave Hammer. Given its dynamic use in combat and the skills needed to master it, those who couldn't learn quick enough were eliminated.

That said, the weapon fits perfectly into the medieval theme of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. Those who obtained this item during the match gained unparalleled mobility and close-range striking power.

Will the Shockwave Hammer be unvaulted in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?

Well, it all depends on what Epic Games has planned. With the Shockwave Hammer being a medieval-themed weapon, it may not fit into the futuristic Japanese theme of Chapter 4 Season 2.

Furthermore, with there being a Katana-type melee weapon being introduced next season, the Shockwave Hammer may seem out of place. If they remove all Kinetic Ore from the island, it will truly be strange to see it in-game.

That said, it's very likely that the weapon will remain vaulted from the main game-mode. However, with the developers adding more and more items to Creative Mode, the Shockwave Hammer will definitely be featured there very soon.

What about other assets that are medieval-themed in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

If the island becomes Neo-Tokyo themed, most of its medieval-themed assets will be vaulted as well. While certain POIs like that of Brutal Bastion may remain intact, other lesser/minor assets will most certainly be changed to futuristic in nature.

That said, the entire island will not be covered in shiny lights or futuristic humbug. There will still be plenty of greenery, trees, and little houses/structures that will be made of wood/stone.

This will be similar to other seasons that had futuristic vibes to them. Covering the entire island with 'blinding lights' will not look good either way. Maintaining some natural beauty will be necessary.
