In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7, The Last Reality (Kymera) invaded the island and blew up The Spire that housed The Zero Point. While this was a highlight in its own right, one of the Battle Pass collaborations stole the entire show.

Rick and Morty climbed to the top of the pop culture ladder after premiering in 2013 to become two of the most recognizable online characters. Thus, when Rick Sanchez was added to the game during the alien invasion, it was a match made in heaven.

A while later, Morty Smith, in his avatar of Mecha Morty, was added as well. While Rick is exclusive, other cosmetics related to the show frequently rotate in and out of the Item Shop. However, following recent news, an emote that is part of the collaboration may never be seen in-game again.

Get Schwifty emote may never return in Fortnite

On January 25, 2023, Adult Swim took to social media to announce that they were ending their association with Justin Roiland. For those unaware, he is the voice actor behind Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, alongside numerous other characters in the franchise.

According to sources, he is currently awaiting trial on charges of felony domestic violence against a former partner. According to the criminal complaint, the charges include corporal injury and false imprisonment by menace, fraud, violence, or deceit.

With Adult Swim looking for new talent to voice the main characters, the Get Schwifty emote will likely be permanently vaulted since it uses Justin Roiland's voice. Given how Fortnite is a kid-friendly game, the developers will not want to get caught up in this controversy.

With that being said, this decision should not affect those who already own the Get Schwifty emote. Since it was purchased before Adult Swim ended their association with Justin Roiland, players will get to keep it. On that note, other cosmetics from the Rick and Morty collaboration are unlikely to get vaulted.

Considering that Rick and Morty Season 7 is in development, it's safe to assume that everything apart from the Get Schwifty emote will remain in-game. In all likelihood, the cosmetics will rotate back into the Item Shop once the next season premieres.

Will there be another major Rick and Morty collaboration in Fortnite?

In all probability, it's very likely that Epic Games will want to collaborate with Rick and Morty sometime again in the future. Given the show's popularity, dozens of characters can be brought to Fortnite. One of the best examples would be Rick Prime.

He's an antagonist for the franchise and would make for an interesting NPC. Other interesting characters who fit right in are Birdperson, Beth Smith, Jerry Smith, Squanchy, Gearhead, and perhaps even The Devil.

As Epic Games has done multiple collaborations with certain franchises, it's not too outlandish to imagine one more with Rick and Morty. That said, it's left to be seen when things come to fruition. With Fortnite Chapter 4's storyline starting to progress, there's no room to "Get Schwifty" for now.
