1. IPL6 inauguration: Pitbull, Bollywood sweep the City of Joy

Usha Uthup and Bappi Lahiri’s voices reverberated through the second largest stadium in the world, the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The near two hour inauguration ceremony of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League had the perfect blend of Indian classical and western music which urged many to shake their legs.

4. Lakers retire O’Neal jersey in Mavs win:

Shaquille O’Neal’s No. 34 jersey during the halftime ceremony of Tuesday night’s game against the Mavericks. O’Neal, 41, spent eight seasons with the Lakers from 1996 to 2004, winning back-to-back-to-back titles from 2000-02. He retired in 2011 after a 19-year NBA career that saw him make 15 All-Star appearances and win four titles, one MVP award and three Finals MVP awards. Kobe Bryant had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in his 19th career triple-double as the Lakers beat the Dallas Mavericks 101-81.

5. Anthony scores 50 points as Knicks crush Heat:

Carmelo Anthony scored a career-high tying 50 points in the New York Knicks 102-90 victory against the Miami Heat. It was the second straight game the Heat were without LeBron James (hamstring) and Dwyane Wade (ankle). Chris Bosh led the Heat with 23 points.
