Taking inspiration from other Caribbean islands like St. Vincent and Grenadines, St. Lucia have also come up with their own T10 league. The tournament will be played for just more than two weeks starting in June 2020.
The first-ever ‘Dream 11 St. Lucia T10 Blast’ tournament involving 10 local teams will be held at only one venue, the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground. Since the Coronavirus pandemic has held the world hostage, the entire tournament will be played behind closed doors as the fans will not be allowed to watch the matches in the stadium.
As the name suggests, St. Lucia T10 Blast will be a blast given that the West Indies produces so many exciting cricketers that enjoy the shorter formats of the game. The 10 teams participating in the competition will be divided into two groups of five teams each. The participating teams are Gros Islet, Central and South Castries, Babonneau, Mon Repos, City Blasters, Vieux Fort, Choiseul, Mabouya Valley and Soufriere.
The group stages will be played by the round-robin system and the top two teams from each group will contest in the semi-finals of the tournament. In the group stages, a total of 2 matches will be played everyday. All teams are allowed to have a maximum squad size of 15 including the marquee player and at least two U19 players.
The St. Lucia T10 Blast 2020 will begin on 23 June with the Final scheduled on 8 July. All matches will begin at 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM local time.
