About Triangular A team Series in England

Before the much awaited series between India and England gets underway, the India A side will look to get a few wins under their belt. Led by Shreyas Iyer, a 15 member squad will be travelling to England in June 2018 to take on England A and West Indies A in a tri-series beginning on June 22, shortly after which, they will take on England A in a Test at Worcester from July 16-19. They will also take on West Indies A in two four day Tests, the first being between July 7-10 and the second between July 10-13.

While Iyer will lead India A in the limited overs series, Karun Nair will lead the side for the four day Tests. The squad boasts a mixture of youth and experience, with a few U-19 stars getting the nod. Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill were rewarded for their performances as they were picked in the side. While Shaw has been included for both the formats, Gill was picked only for the shorter formats.

Apart from Shaw, Vijay Shankar and Mayank Agarwal were the only two other players who were picked for both formats.

Krunal Pandya, Prasidh Krishna, and K Gowtham, all three who had a spectacular IPL season were included in the squad for the limited overs series. Meanwhile, Rajneesh Gurbani and Navdeep Saini, who were extremely successful in the Ranji Trophy last year, were included in the squad for the four-day Tests.

The players undertook the yo-yo Test at the National Cricket Academy in the second week of June before travelling to England. Sanju Samson, the 23-year-old from Kerala, who had a fantastic IPL season, failed the Test and will not be travelling with the squad. His replacement is yet to be named.
