MLB World Tour: Seoul Series

Major League Baseball (MLB) is the most popular form of baseball in the United States of America and Canada. It has 30 different teams across two leagues, the American League (AL) and the National League (NL) competing to claim the World Series every year. The games are organized in seasons, where every team plays in the regular season first and then advances to the postseason before eventually going to the World Series.

However, MLB has also organized several of their regular season games outside America and Canada. From the 2023 season onwards, the league has named these games as “MLB World Tour.” Under the new name, the first event was the MLB World Tour: London Series 2023. It was organized at the London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford London on June 24, 2023 and June 25, 2023. The St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs faced off in a two game series with the former declared as the home team. The Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 9-1 in the first game on June 24, 2023 while the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-5 in the second game on June 25, 2023. The MLB has again organized the MLB World Tour in 2024, this time taking place in Seoul, South Korea. However, they will be returning to London once again later in the year.

What is the Seoul Series?

The 2024 MLB World Tour: Seoul Series is a global event by MLB as one of the ways to start their regular season. This event will consist of a two game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres on March 20, 2024 and March 21, 2024.

However, prior to these two games, these teams will also compete against South Korean baseball teams in four exhibition games on March 17, 2024 and March 18, 2024. All games will be held at Gocheok SkyDome in Seoul, South Korea.

Seoul Series Teams

The two main teams of the 2024 MLB World Tour: Seoul Series are the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.

However, as part of the exhibition games, both these teams will be facing off against South Korean baseball teams. These are the Kiwoom Heroes and the LG Twins of the KBO League and Team Korea.

Seoul Series Location

The 2024 MLB World Tour: Seoul Series game will be held at Gocheok SkyDome. Located in 430, Gyeongin-ro, Gocheok-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul, South Korea, it is a baseball stadium which currently serves as the home stadium for the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO League. The stadium can support 16,744 fans for baseball games.

The field surface is made up of artificial turf. The left field is 325 feet, the right field is 325 feet, the center field is 400 feet and the outfield fence height is 12 feet. The stadium was opened on September 15, 2015.

Seoul Series Channel

ESPN has been selected as the national broadcasting channel for the 2024 MLB World Tour: Seoul Series Games. Game 1 will feature the Los Angeles Dodgers vs the San Diego Padres on March 20, 2021. The game will start at 6:05 am ET and 3:05 am PT. Game 2 will feature the San Diego Padres vs the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 21, 2021. The game will start at 6:05 am ET and 3:05 pm PT.

Padres.TV and Spectrum Sportsnet have been chosen as the in-market broadcasting channels for these games. South Korean viewers can watch these games on the streaming platform Coupang Play as they are a presenting partner of the event.
