Mumbai Magicians to meet Delhi Waveriders in Mumbai tomorrow

Press Release

Mumbai, 14 February 2014: Delhi Waveriders, with the maximum points in the pool table, are sitting pretty on the top with 34 points, and will clash against Dabur Mumbai Magicians, who will be trying to put a break to Delhi Waveriders’ winning streak and also mark their first win in this season of the Hero Hockey India League 2014 in Mumbai tomorrow.

While Delhi Waveriders are proving to be the toughest team this season, Mumbai Magicians will be looking at levelling the scores with the former. Where Delhi Waveriders will be aiming to further add to their lead in the pool standings, the Magicians will be out on the field to try and put a dent in Delhi Waveriders’ scoring spree. With the likes of Sardar Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Simon Child, Jason Wilson, Akashdeep Singh and Talwinder Singh, the Delhi outfit will not be in a mood to give in to the home team easily.

Dabur Mumbai Magicians gave a good fight to the defending champions Ranchi Rhinos in their last match but lost the match by 1-0 at their home turf. The Mumbai fans will hope for their team to give a tough fight to the visitors and put a stop to Delhi Waveriders’ dominating run. Glen Turner, the captain of Dabur Mumbai Magicians, has to his credit 1 goal each in field goals, penalty corners and penalty strokes and will want to prove the Magicians’ mettle tomorrow.

Speaking on tomorrow’s match Captain Glen Turner of the Dabur Mumbai Magicians said, “We are practising hard and making our full effort to perform well in our next match against Delhi Waveriders. We definitely want to win tomorrow’s game. It will be good for us to finish the tournament on a stronger note.”

Speaking on the team and expectations, Head Coach of Dabur Mumbai Magicians M K Kaushik said, “We will go out and play well tomorrow. It is very important for us to win and we will try not repeating the mistakes in our game against Delhi Waveriders and the team has been working on that. I agree that the advantage will be with Delhi Waveriders as they have already qualified for the semifinals, hence they can go easy on tomorrow’s game, but it’s very important for us to win tomorrow.”

Speaking before their match against Mumbai Magicians, Captain Sardar Singh, Delhi Waveriders said, “Satisfied with the performance of our team in the last two games and the entire unit is motivated to have entered the semifinals. Even though we have qualified for the next round, for tomorrow we will play with our full strength to win the match and further consolidate our position on the points table.”
