Sardar Singh satisfied with team India's Hockey World League preparation

With the Hockey World League (HWL) fast approaching, the men's team is working on their strategies in the on-going training sessions and practice matches. Indian men’s hockey team captain Sardar Singh reviewed the team’s performance and illustrated his thoughts ahead of the tournament.

He expressed satisfaction at the results from the practice sessions and warm-up matches.

“Till now, everything is going fine and we have achieved satisfactory results in our training sessions and practice matches,” said Sardar. “The whole team, including the coaches and support staff, has been working hard preparing for this tournament and we have improved a lot in various aspects.”

India won their opening practice match 1-0 against France. Although, they lost 1-2 to Belgium in the next practice match, Sardar said that their new strategies and team combinations are reaping positive results. India thumped United States of America in their third practice match and they face Great Britain in the final practice match before the HWL semis.

The Indian captain also said that they have learned a lot about their strategies from the game which will help them in the near future.

“We are now focussing on our finishing and converting our attacks into goals. With the addition of new and young players, the team combination becomes more flexible, which is helping us to create more options in drawing new strategies,” Sardar said.

The captain signed off by suggesting that the weather in Belgium is very cool and ideal for playing hockey.

The team is looking forward to play their first match and are eager to start their campaign with a win when they face France in the tournament opener on 20th June.
