Patna Pirates, the home side, will take on the Puneri Paltan in the second match of a double-header on Sunday, 4th August at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna at 8:30 PM IST.
The Pirates come off a 34-21 loss to the Jaipur Pink Panthers where their defense was error-prone and barring 9 raid points from Pardeep Narwal, the Pirates never really came together on the night. They need to please their home fans and will fancy their chances against the not-so-confident Pune side.
Puneri Paltan, meanwhile come off a 43-23 decimation at the hands of the Bengal Warriors and in the absence of lead raider Nitin Tomar, their team hasn't worked as a unit and need to do so this match.
Patna Pirates

Barring a brave second-half effort from skipper Pardeep Narwal, Patna were unimpressive against Jaipur as not a single raid point was scored either by Jang Kun Lee or by Mohammad Maghsoudlou who even threw in some needless tackles ruining the momentum which the Pirates were building. Young Monu was another bright spark who impressed from the bench and he could possibly make his way to the Starting 7 next match.
Defensively, Monu topped the charts with 3 points while Jaideep and right cover Neeraj Kumar did decently with 2 points while Hadi Oshtorak could manage just 1 point. Vikas Jaglan had a bad night and needs to do better.
Puneri Paltan
Key Players: PO Surjeet Singh, Girish Maruti Ernak and Pawan Kadian
Pune were absolutely steamrolled by Bengal and the main reason was the lackluster performance of their raiding unit in the absence of Nitin Tomar. Pawan Kadian blanked while both Sushant Sail and Manjeet could muster 6 points between them. Pankaj Mohite and Amit Kumar sizzled from the bench but in the end, the aggression was lacking from the Paltan.
In the defense, skipper Surjeet Singh had another bad night blanking in the right cover position while Sanket Sawant could pick up 1 point in the left cover. Shubham Shinde scored 1 point playing in the right corner while Girish Ernak had a better night, picking up 3 tackle points. Pune need to combine well as a unit and need their big players to step up.
