Pro Kabaddi 2019, Match 62: Gujarat Fortunegiants vs Haryana Steelers | Match preview, predictions and telecast details - Who will win today’s match?
Gujarat made a glorious start to their season with two very dominant victories, but things soon went downhill for them. They were handed losses one after the other and the morale of the team seemed too low. But Gujarat fought back in the last game and their defence showed it’s class.
Pardeep Narwal looked set for another Super 10 but Gujarat’s defenders had other ideas. They kept Patna’s scoring under check and scored 11 tackle points. Parvesh Bhainswal and captain Sunil Kumar have been disciplined with their approach and have also received good support from Pankaj in the last few games.
Stat: Gujarat are also the second best team in terms of the total points conceded (274 points) and that speaks highly of their defense.
In the absence of Sachin Tanwar, the raiding department was headed by Rohit Gulia and he did not disappoint. He scored 10 valuable points to put the match in Gujarat’s favour. Also, GB More fetched points in all departments and that will be a good booster for the all-rounder. Gujarat will hope for a quick end to Sachin’s poor form as the team searches for a change in their fortunes.
Gujarat’s Form Guide: W W W L L L L L L W
Haryana Steelers put up a great team effort to beat Bengal Warriors, a team of that looked better than them on paper. Vikas Khandola scored a Super 10, which has now become a daily routine for this superstar. But it was Vinay who established Haryana’s dominance in the early stages of the match with a brilliant super raid.
Dharmaraj Cheralathan has repeatedly shown the importance of experience as he once again led Haryana’s defense and top-scored with four tackle points. The form of other defenders has been a bit dicey and that may go against Haryana.
Haryana’s Form Guide: W L L L W W W L W W
Predicted Starting 7s
Gujarat Fortunegiants: Sachin Tanwar, GB More, Rohit Gulia, Sonu, Sunil Kumar (C), Parvesh Bhainswal, Sumit
Haryana Steelers: Vikas Kandola, Naveen, Vinay, Chand Singh, Sunil, Ravi Kumar, Dharmaraj Cheralathan (C)
Gujarat have defended well this season, but haven’t found equal support from their raiders. If Sachin returns to the side, he will have a big role to play.
Haryana have looked good with two successive wins but their defense might be a weak link going ahead. Cheralathan has often been the lone warrior and he will require others to step up.
Haryana could be expected to beat Gujarat Fortunegiants in Delhi tonight.
