So that's it. After the 2024 women's T20 World Cup there was a nice discourse that ODIs are perhaps India's best format because it suits most of their players. Australia have now showed that how far wrong that was. There's so, so much room for improvement in every department and it'll still take a lot of time and accountability to achieve that. They don't even have to look farther than the opposition to know how to get either of those things done. We'll see if something changes on Wednesday. Tahlia McGrath (Australia captain): It was pretty nice to watch. The Volly 100 was the highlight but everyone did so well. It was just her confidence, played some lovely drives, and they were probably not sure how to get her out. You could see Perry's intent and six-hitting. We want to be about that -- taking the game on. There are always seven bowlers on my mind, which is a challenge. We were hoping for a bit more movement off the pitch but now hopefully, there's a bit more bounce at the WACA.
Harmanpreet Kaur (India captain): We got some partnerships in between even though it was a very big total (to chase). We still looked to keep a positive mindset. Good partnerships but we were short by a few runs. (Were conditions challenging early on with the ball?) We created opportunities but unfortunately we couldn't take them. They also played really well, we need to appreciate that. With our bowling, we need to think of our plans and think of how we're going to bowl in the next game. We expected some early momentum but they batted really well. Today we got a few forties but we weren't able to convert them into fifties or hundreds. We need to bat longer and bat the full 50 overs. In both games we haven't been able to do that.
Ellyse Perry is the Player of the Match for her outstanding rapid 105 off 75 balls. Here's what she has to say: A really different game to the other day. The openers set the platform up again and some really good contributions down the order. We bowled really well. Good to toil away there and finish with a win. We're really fortunate to have the lineup that we do. I think it's just about making the most of the opportunities we have. As I said Voll and Phoebe at the start just set the tone there for us. We played a lot of T20 cricket in the last year. So not much changes, it's about picking the right bowler and the right lengths. We've got complementary batters throughout the order. We've just got options and it worked for us today. I had a lot of fun, it's a great place to play cricket. Really good crowd and a fun atmosphere.

A proper thumping from Australia as they take a deserved, impregnable 2-0 lead in the ODIs. India conceded a record 371 in the first innings and chased like there was no target, with the intent hiding somewhere in the dressing room. Due to Priya Punia's injury, India promoted finisher Richa Ghosh to open alongside Mandhana. The latter got out cheaply again, Harleen followed her and the Ghosh-Harman pair couldn't shift the tempo despite scoring 66 runs together.
Boundaries came through every over but strike-rotation was negligible. So a down the leg bowled off King for Ghosh was all it took to game to roll into a cliff of losing momentum. Australia brought back Gardner and Schutt immediately. The latter took out Harman and the former took out Deepti Sharma, who never looked quite comfortable. Jemimah played her typical busy knock but a lack of power-hitting from either end meant the required run-rate stayed over 10 constantly.
Once she got out, it was all about Minnu Mani making the most of the chance with a mature rearguard action, including a couple of good boundaries, before Sutherland wrapped up the tail. As Punia couldn't bat, Australia needed just nine wickets, even though they looked like they could take 18.
