Commentary

That brings to close the short tour of the Indian Women down under where they have been thrashed 3-0 by the world beater Australian side. Not a lot of time to ponder upon it for them as they travel quickly back to home and get ready to play the white-ball series against West Indies starting with the T20s on Sunday. Australia, on the other hand, will make a quick journey to New Zeland and get set for a 3-match ODI series against the White Ferns starting on the 19th. Tahlia McGrath [Australia Women Captain]: "Very happy with that. Ash (Ashleigh Gardner) and Annabel (Sutherland) were perfect for us. They stuck out at difficult time and bailed us out. The pleasing thing has been that every game in this series a different player has stood up. Our batting has really been the highlight. How we played in game 2 in particular, the top four pressing on and getting a big score was great. A little bit of work to do with the ball though."

Harmanpreet Kaur [India Women captain]: "We bowled really well. Specially Arundhati, because of her we were in the game. Lots of learning for us in this tour, we will go back and analyse. Smriti's knock and Richa's 50 in the second game were good,. We did well in patches but we have to learn how to keep it going as a team. We are going to Mumbai next with a home series against West Indies next."

Annabel Sutherland is the Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series, here is what she has to say: "I thought that the Indian girls challenged us, especially the pacers. They broke through early. Ash (Ashleigh Gardner) and I sort of rebuild. It was challenging. It is always tough to climb up the order and find an opportunity. The girls have been performing that well. It is about looking after my body. It starts pre-season. We do a heap of work to get our bodies ready.

India gave hopes of chasing down the big total set up by the Aussies, they were ahead for a large part of it but then an inexplicable collapse took pace and it is the Aussie Women who have come out of this with a big victory in the end.

The innings started with the pair of Mandhana and Richa Ghosh with the WK getting to open the batting for the second time in a row. However, this time it was a short stay at the crease for Ghosh as she was cleaned up by Schutt in the fifth over.

Harleen Deol then joined Smriti and the duo put up a fantastic partnership, one which did get the luck in their favor and put up a wonderful 118 runs for the second wicket with Mandhana dominating the scoring. Alana King broke the stand in the 28th over.

Smriti and Harman got together for a brief while and then Smriti and Jemimah but as soon as Smriti was castled by Gardner in the 36th over with the team score at 189, the floodgates opened and the Aussies barged the door down. India lost two more wickets at the same score as Ash Gardner came into her own, eventually ending up with a 5-er as India imploded to fold up on 215.
