It's pitch no. 2 and so, the straight hit is 77m and one side of the square boundary is 73m. The wind is blowing across the ground at 18 kph. It's a good surface. It's well rolled, well watered and pretty hard. The grass is there to hold the surface together. There should be true bounce on offer for the batters to trust. So runs are a given here. As reckoned by Natalie Germanos and Ian Bishop.

Okay then, that caps off the first day of the Super 8s! Group 2 has seen South Africa and England pick up their first wins. Now, the action moves to Group 1. India will take on Afghanistan in Barbados first up and then, Australia will lock horns against Bangladesh. So, which two teams will get on the board in this round, first up? For that, you have to follow our coverage friends. We will bring you all the action from both those games. For now, this is the pair of Arya and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Jos Buttler (England captain): I thought we bowled well against such a power batting line-up! We could easily have been staring down at a score in excess of 200, but to bowl like we did, speaks a lot of how our bowling group is shaping up. All the bowlers executed their plans and Adil Rashid just continued to impress, slipping under the radar, as always! Philip Salt came good today, he soaked in the pressure and took it to the opposition bowling just when the pressure was on. Jonny Bairstow too played a superb hand when we were in a slight spot of bother. Just augers well for us that a win like this has come at this time.
Rovman Powell (West Indies captain): I think we left 15-20 runs out there with the bat in the first innings. But, we should have done better with the ball too. Philip Salt seems to be a different beast against the West Indies! Every time he plays against us, he scores. But we have to improve with both bat and ball in the next game, and with destiny in our own hands, we need to move on from this one. Obed McCoy is very much in our selection thoughts, we will consider him going forward.
Philip Salt is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah you could say so. Not looking too far ahead. Nice to contribute to the win. It was little bit tougher and I knew Polly since he has come in he has been telling about going big. I had to back myself to cash in later on against the pacers. Yeah it's lot of different factor which affects it. There was a period when I didn't face enough balls. Generally that was a.pretty good wicket. Jonny's innings was very crucial. When Buttler got out, I had to take it deep. For Jonny to come in and take the pressure off me, couldn't be happier from a team mate perspective.
England win by 8 wickets with 15 balls to spare!
Philip Salt 87* (47) | Adil Rashid - 1/21 (4) Johnson Charles 38 (34) | Roston Chase - 1/19 (3)
What looked like a tricky run chase for most parts, ended up being an easy one just when it was time for one of the teams to take the game by the scruff of the neck! England were just too good under pressure tonight when the West Indies had to turn on the squeeze.
Jos Buttler and Philip Salt began nicely. They brought up a 50-run stand, before Buttler was done for a faster delivery by Roston Chase. England sent out Moeen Ali at number 3 and he didn't disappoint either. But after a 10-ball 13, he got holed out at deep mid-wicket off the bowling of Andre Russell.
After that, things got just a bit tight, but then, the floodgates opened! Jonny Bairstow teamed up with Salt and got stuck into the West Indian bowling. First, it was Bairstow against Alzarri Joseph that gave England the impetus and then, the 16th over of the innings, which was bowled by Romario Shepherd, that went for 30 runs!
As Shepherd himself smashed 30 runs in an over in the recently concluded IPL, Salt returned the favour to him by taking him to the cleaners with 3 fours and 3 sixes!
It was a mere formality after that as England romped home when the home crowd were stunned to silence! The West Indies missed their chances earlier on and were not all that good with their discipline.
But the biggest problem for the co-hosts was that neither left-arm spinner could pick up a wicket. Both Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie bowled decently, however, were unable to pick up those crucial wickets required either up front or through the middle of the innings.
17.3 Alzarri Joseph to Jonny Bairstow, England win by 8 wickets. Bairstow pulls away the back of a length delivery around middle, down towards the deep midwicket region and takes the winning runs. What a thoroughly convincing effort from England.
Scores are level.
17.2 Alzarri Joseph to Philip Salt, short of a length delivery around middle, Salt mistimes the pull up in the air, falls short of square leg and a single taken. Just one more needed.
17.1 Alzarri Joseph to Philip Salt, Salt makes some room and clofts the swing across the line off a good-length delivery, down towards the deep midwicket region and comes back for a brace.
Alzarri Joseph [2.0-0-28-0] comes back into the attack.
Should be over any moment now! England have just run away with the game in the last 15 minutes or so.
Vishesh: What a let down this is! West Indies have been disappointing when they needed to step up a notch.

16.6 Gudakesh Motie to Jonny Bairstow, on a good-length around middle and leg, Bairstow makes some room and punches it straight to the extra cover fielder.
16.5 Gudakesh Motie to Jonny Bairstow, glides away the flatter one a shade outside off, cut away straight to the short third man fielder.
16.4 Gudakesh Motie to Jonny Bairstow, on a good-length around middle, eased away towards the cover fielder.
Only a hit away now are England.
16.3 Gudakesh Motie to Philip Salt, on a good-length around middle, nudged away towards long on for a single.
16.2 Gudakesh Motie to Philip Salt, FOUR! Flatter and quicker outside off, width was on offer and Salt flays that away between the backward point and the short third man fielder and off to the fence it goes.
16.1 Gudakesh Motie to Jonny Bairstow, on a good-length around middle, punched away towards the cover region for a single.
Gudakesh Motie [3.0-0-26-0] comes back into the attack.
If you had any doubts about who is winning, Philip Salt has made your work easier! 30 runs conceded by Shepherd is the most by a West Indian in T20 World Cups!
