Commentary

Thank you for joining me, Mohul Bhowmick and my partner Pradeep, for this exciting game in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Until next time, goodbye!

Heather Knight (England's captain): We spoke about taking some momentum into the semifinal, and I am really proud of the way the girls put up this showing today. Danni (Wyatt) is a fantastic striker of the ball, and it felt very good to see her do well today. The girls are all pumped up, and we are ready for the semifinal. The pitch had a bit of carry in it, so that helped our seamers. Newlands is always a fantastic ground to play cricket in, and we thoroughly loved it here!

Nida Dar (Pakistan's captain): It was a little disappointing for sure, but we have done well for ourselves in the other games. We don't have a lot of strength in our batting, but we need to learn from these matches. Pakistan cricket is in a good place now, and I think there is a lot of good talent coming through. We bowled poorly today and were punished for our mistakes. It feels really good (on becoming the leading wicket-taker in WT20Is) but my aim is to do well for the country. It is a proud moment for sure.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is the Player of the Match for her all-round performance 81(40)* & 1-4! Here's what she has to say: It was alright at the start, their spinners bowled slower than us, couple of them turned but not a lot, we assessed the wicket to be pretty good, we attacked from there on. (Danni Wyatt's start) So important, Sophia and Danni batting well for us in the tournament, really pleased Danni could put score on the board, continue what they all do, all three of them and sometimes it's going to come off but sometimes it doesn't. (About their performance in the field) I thought it was pretty good, haven't been at our best with the ball and the field, thought we took our chances pretty well today, having that momentum from Katherine starting us off in the first over is really important to our team.

As was expected, England walloped Pakistan for an easy and comfortable win. Pakistan did not seem to be in the competition and in the end, the game turned out to be brutally one-sided. England’s skipper Heather Knight rotated her bowlers really well, and gave everyone an equal opportunity to have a crack at the weak Pakistan batting lineup.

Her seamers Katherine Sciver-Brunt, Nat Sciver-Brunt and young Freya Davies all did well, as did the fearsome spin trio of Charlie Dean. Sarah Glenn and the famous Sophie Ecclestone. Pakistan will be extremely disappointed with the showing that they put up today, and will be hoping that these learnings will hold them in good stead in the future.

They crash out of this tournament and have not qualified for the semifinal, but will be glad of the experiences that they have had so far. England have topped their group and will go into the semifinal with a lot of confidence. They will now feel that they have the ability to go on and win the tournament as well! This result also means that India will face Australia in the first semifinal!

And that will be that- England are deserving winners of this game by a massive 114 runs!

Ecclestone fires a full delivery on the fourth stump, Sandhu comes down the track and reaches but misses, Jones once again quick with a lightning stumping and Ecclestone finishes with a wicket. England top the group and that means India are meeting Australia in the semi-finals!

Ah, how unfortunate! A rare error by Jones.

19.1 Sophie Ecclestone to Fatima Sana, FOUR BYES! Missed everything, the batter and the keeper. Fatima has a big swing across the line, was outside the leg-stump and she misses, Jones misses and that runs down to fine-leg fence.

Pakistan are 92/8 after nineteen overs. Will they be able to breach the 100-run mark? It is going to be a challenge for sure!

That was comical from Pakistan! How disappointing it is that Tuba has to depart this way.

18.5 Freya Davies to Tuba Hassan, OH! RUN-OUT! Good effort this from Katherine. Full delivery on the off-stump, Tuba whacked it down to long-off, Katherine comes diving and stops it. There might be a run-out here. Umpire takes this one upstairs to check, that was very casual from Tuba in the end as she thought it has gone to the boundary and stopped running but Davies collects and whips the bails off quickly. Disastrous end to Tuba's innings!
