Suryakumar Yadav walks up to collect the series trophy. Handed the reins of captaincy for the first time and just days after the World Cup heartbreak, he has led this outfit quite brilliantly. He hands over the trophy to Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma who hold it aloft as the team poses for the shutterbugs. This young Indian team has played a brand of cricket that has been incredibly fun to watch and they can be proud of how they've played this series. Ahead of a big challenge in South Africa, this is the kind of confidence they will want to take going forward.
As for Australia, it's been a long journey on the road as a team. A good part of their World Cup squad is back home now but a number of these players who took part today have also been on the road for a while. In and out at times having flown back during the World Cup - it began with a tour of South Africa where they won the T20Is before surrendering the one-day rubber. They lost the 3-match ODI series to India as well as this T20I rubber. What will please them immensely, however, is the fact that they claimed the biggest prize out there - the ODI World Cup. They will take the positives out of this series and build towards the T20 World Cup next year but it's a good time for some of these players to put their feet up now. You'd think Travis Head ought to be one of them but then, he goes again in eleven days' time in the first Test against Pakistan in Perth. Sums up the cricketing calendar doesn't it?
Suryakumar Yadav (India captain): It was a hard fought series from day one, 200 every game and the way boys showed skills is commendable. We wanted to be fearless, we wanted to enjoy when we were in the middle and I told them to enjoy the game, the result shows now. If you would've been there, it would've been an add-on but I've seen many a games at Chinnaswamy, when teams have scored 200, it becomes easier to chase, but with 160, I told my boys that it is game on after 10 overs.
Ravi Bishnoi is the Player of the Series for his nine wickets in a rubber marked by high scores. Here's what he has to say: The first match didn't go well for me. But I've been planning and looking to execute accordingly. I've been working on my execution and focusing on that. My plan is simple - I want to bowl stump to stump and short of a length. It was a typical leg-spinner's thought (wanting to tempt the batter to hit over the fielder's head). It's a different challenge (in South Africa) but I'll try to adapt there as quickly as I can.
Axar Patel is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: It was fun, the first four games there was dew, but it was different today and I thought it would be my turn to bowl well on this track. After the break, we think of what we can do and if you are in rhythm where you can play shots and I thought lots not happening with me initially, but I got help with the track and bowled well and I was able to contribute crucial runs. Bishnoi and my partnership has been there even when we play for Gujarat, it was fun and hopefully the partnership continues.
Matthew Wade (Australia captain): (What was the turning point?) Can't wrap my head around it at the moment after not getting my side over the line. But I thought we bowled well to keep them to a total that we should have chased down. Pretty disappointing last five or six overs (with the bat). There was a temptation to maybe go in and take on the two spinners. But projecting towards the World Cup my role is going to be down there at the death overs. That was spoken about but looking forward to the World Cup my job's going to be to finish it off. Would have been nice to get the result tonight. We've played some really good cricket, got outplayed at times. But we learn a lot. Ben McDermott played really well tonight and the young guys got a lot of opportunities. Behrendorff, Aaron Hardie, Tanveer Sangha got a lot of opportunities.
Shreyas and Iyer and Arshdeep Singh in a conversation with Deepdas Gupta and Matthew Hayden:
Shreyas Iyer: Elated to be honest to see every one chipping with contributions for team's victory and it showed the innovation and today Arshdeep was bowling the last over, I could see the calmness in his mindset, kudos to him. My mindset was ball to go boom boom right from ball one, but when I saw three wickets falling down, I started calculating, I had to take the bowler on the merit, not a great wicket to bat on and needed to bat according to it. 160 was a good total, which we got eventually after losing consecutive wickets and to defend it, it's just brilliant performance by the team.
Arshdeep Singh: I guess from the big part of the game, for the first 19 overs, I thought I gave away too many and spoiled it and thought I'll be the culprit of the game, but god gave me another chance and I was able to hold on my nerve. To be honest, not much, Surya bhai told, whatever happens, it happens, credit goes to our batters, we had to push extra 20 - 30 runs and credit goes to them as well. According to the standards we have set, it's not near anywhere par, but a lot of lessons learnt, we need to work on it and come back stronger.

We've come to expect thrillers at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. More of the 200 plays 200 kind but today was nothing short of a cracker in itself. A fitting end to a fabulous series and India take the honors by a 4-1 margin - one that could have been 5-0 too had things gone their way in Guwahati.
Defending just 160 was not going to be easy for the hosts even if the pitch was tacky. It didn't help that Travis Head got off to another flyer with Arshdeep Singh bowling all over the place. Josh Philippe perished early but it didn't stop Head from taking the attack to the bowlers, even as he didn't really middle the ball every single time. Ravi Bishnoi was trusted with the ball in the powerplay again and having landed one in the slot, breached the defense of Head with a subtle adjustment in length.
Aaron Hardie didn't leave a mark himself and with Axar Patel extracting sharp purchase off the deck, the Aussies had their task cut out. A period of consolidation followed between Ben McDermott and Tim David with the former clearing the fence off the poor deliveries alone and rotating strike brilliantly in the process. The asking rate wasn't allowed to escalate to a gargantuan one and once the spinners were seen out, the pacers blew hot and cold. That's where India's fielders stood up as they held onto some brilliant catches to turn the game on its head.
McDermott failed to get the job done as he perished after his half-century before a double-whammy by Mukesh Kumar put Australia under the pump. That's when Matthew Wade tore into Avesh Khan for three boundaries in the 18th over and continued to show the excellent form he had displayed in the first few games. He took it upon himself to get ten runs off the last over but the frustration got the better of him when he was fuming as a wide call wasn't judged in his team's favor. Arshdeep held his nerve and nailed his yorkers to perfection and once Wade departed, it was the final nail in the coffin with the hosts pulling off a sensational defense in front of a full house!
Take a bow, Arshdeep Singh! He was under immense pressure heading into that last over with a red-hot Matthew Wade firing on all cylinders. But he has backed his yorker brilliantly and pulled off a stunning heist for India. A cracking contest and India take the series 4-1!

19.6 Arshdeep Singh to Jason Behrendorff, ARSHDEEP HOLDS ON TO HIS NERVE! India make it 4-1 and has been sensational in the last few overs to sneak a win here! Magnificent final over from Arshdeep, given how things went for him in the three overs he's bowled, but he has been nothing short of sensational in the final over. Yorker length on the off-stump, Behrendorff digs it out to covers and jogs across for a single.
Oh Nathan Ellis! Hitting the ball straight is often considered the best thing to do but he's just hit it a wee bit too straight here. Umpire Virender Sharma sees the funny side of it but he has thankfully not hurt himself here. Barring a no ball or a wide, this is India's game...
19.5 Arshdeep Singh to Nathan Ellis, OH MY! Ellis absolutely belted it back but the umpire who was getting out of the way, was late and gets hit in the end. Could've been a boundary otherwise. Full on the stumps, Ellis smashes it back past and gets only one.
Arshdeep Singh is holding his nerve here. Suryakumar Yadav is busy directing more traffic. Long off is back while long on moves to deep mid-wicket. Deep square leg comes up while fine leg is also back.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium erupts! A happy grin on VVS Laxman's face in the dugout and this could well be the clincher for India. At long last, Matthew Wade has been dismissed this series but he walks off a disgruntled man, perhaps still fuming over the wide call that wasn't given.
19.3 Arshdeep Singh to Matthew Wade, OUT! HOLES OUT AT LONG-ON! Is that the game for India? Too full on the stumps, Wade was looking to sweep that one across the line but miscued it straight down the throat of Iyer who clings on to a crucial catch of the game. India are right back in it!
