Thanks a lot for joining us here at Sportskeeda for the coverage of the second Test between India and England here in Vizag. India go into the third Test in Rajkot having levelled the series 1-1 here. We hope you enjoyed watching this match as much as did covering it. Until next time, ciao!
Fitting that we end our coverage with the winning moment, isn't it? A Jasprit Bumrah special, ladies and gentlemen!👇
Jasprit Bumrah (Player of the Match): I don't think of numbers at all. I used to think of numbers when I was younger, but now I am focused only on winning games for India. I am very happy that we won this game. As a kid, a yorker was the first ball I learnt since I came from tennis-ball attack. I don't see myself as a leader but since I have played a little more cricket and we are going through a transition here, it is my job to help them out. Rohit and I have conversations about what we want to do. There is not really any competition with Anderson. If somebody else is doing well, kudos to them.
Rohit Sharma (India captain): Bumrah has done extremely well for us over the years. But when you win such matches, you have to look at each and every player who has contributed. Yashasvi is a very good player, and he has a long way to go. He has just come into the team, and I hope he contributes for us. I hope he stays humble and focuses on his game. A lot of young batters did their best today and I think this win will give them a lot of confidence. For us, this is a positive result. This win was quite pleasing, but the series is not over.
Ben Stokes (England captain): We had full belief in ourselves that we could chase it down. We wanted to take such challenges up. The runs that we had to chase down were a lot, but we wanted to give it a shot. When you have scoreboard pressure like this, your processes have to work, and we did take India's bowlers close. Unfortunately, we did not end up on the right side. Everyone in the dressing room is a confident player and we don't say anything beforehand. We knew what the task was.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: Of course it is a wonderful feeling. I enjoyed the game and it's always a proud moment whenever you win a match for your country. We were just focussing on our process. We were trying to hit the right areas and that worked. There was a few cracks here and there. It's very hard playing in the 4th innings on this kind of surface, I can say that, Absolutely different from white ball cricket, Red ball cricket is very different. The way Bumrah bhai bowled, it was quite outstanding. From the slip cordon, it was exceptional. It was wonderful to see him bowl and being part of this Test natch. My intent was same, if there was any loose deliveries I tried to go after that and fortunately that worked well for me.
India beat England by 106 runs and level the series 1-1!
Jasprit Bumrah turns out to be the star for India in the end as he manages to knock the stumps as Tom Hartley tries to get squared up and work the ball away. It was only appropriate that Bumrah got the big last wicket to seal the deal for India and help level the series 1-1.
For England, there are gaping questions on their application skills. Some of their top batters, including Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, have not been at their best this series, and this has affected them deeply. While the likes of Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley have been in form, they need the others to contribute too.
India had a lot of top contributions in this game, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill scoring big runs and helping them to big totals in both the firsthand second innings. Their bowlers contributed in equal measure, as was shown by Bumrah's six-wicket haul in the first innings and three-wicket haul in the second innings.
The juggernaut now moves on to Ranchi after a bit of a break, and one expects England to work hard on their shortcomings. Their bowlers have been on top of their games throughout, and especially impressive was the young/ old James Anderson who came back into the side for this Test.
And that will be that! India win this game to level the series.
69.2 Jasprit Bumrah to Tom Hartley, WICKET! That's it, Hartley has been castled here and India win by 106 runs. A beautiful delivery from Bumrah and Hartley played all over that, angling back in from a good-length and then straightening just enough to beat the outside edge of Hartley, he was squared up there and ends up losing his off-stump. Jasprit Bumrah is an absolute star. The series has been levelled 1-1.
Tom Hartley b Jasprit Bumrah 36 (47b 5x4 1x6)
69.1 Jasprit Bumrah to James Anderson, on a fullish-length swinging back into Anderson, trickles off his pads towards the on side and takes a leg bye single.
Jasprit Bumrah [17-4-46-2] is back into the attack.
Signalled as runs! Ashwin will not be pleased. India will want to pick up the last English wicket as soon as possible. If they don't do so, they will have to bowl for an added half-hour, as Tea will not be taken now.

68.6 Ravichandran Ashwin to Tom Hartley, FOUR! That was slowish and shorter a tad outside off, gave ample time on this occasion for Hartley to rock back and cuts this away past the backward point fielder, off it goes away to the deep point fence.
68.5 Ravichandran Ashwin to James Anderson, Anderson again goes for the reverse sweep to a tossed-up delivery around middle, off the gloves, clearing the slip fielder and takes a single.

68.3 Ravichandran Ashwin to James Anderson, tossed up delivery on a good-length around middle, defended off the frontfoot by Anderson.

68.1 Ravichandran Ashwin to Tom Hartley, that was slower and shorter a tad outside off, Hartley rocks back and cuts it away towards deep point for a single.
