The Invincibles lived up to their moniker tonight. Meanwhile, in the other camp, the "Spirit" might not be very high following this match's result. But hey! What do they say? "Fall seven times, stand up eight".
With this weird cocktail of motivation and some really obvious puns, it is time for us — Darpan Tikiya and Bidipto Datta — to wrap up the coverage of this match.
Join us tomorrow for the clash between Manchester Originals and Southern Braves, beginning at 6:30 PM local time [11:00 PM IST]. Goodbye for now!
Rashid Khan (Player of the Match, 3/11): "The break really helped! The IPL was a really long tournament, so, I needed to take a breather to think about my game. It was a good surface, there was turn on offer, but hitting the right length, consistently, was the key. I thought I got that done well. A competition like this, it is important to be mentally prepared. Experience helps, and that made me keep going for this tournament and today."

8:48 PM local time, 1:18 AM IST | Oval Invincibles win by 6 wickets
Tonight, the two-time defending champions lived up to their monicker — "Invincibles". They haven't just notched up a victory, but mauled the opposition and begun their campaign on the perfect note. They get over the line with 61 balls to spare and have now registered their 6th successive win over London Spirit.
For the home team, nothing apart from the coin toss went their way. Jason Behendorff set the tone for the Invincibles by bowling a miserly couple of sets up front. The pressure helped Jordan Clark draw false shots from Keaton Jennings and then, from David Warner. Then, the Aussie left arm quick came back to dismiss skipper Kane Williamson and suddenly, London Spirit were staring down the barrel. The hopes of a fightback were quashed by Rashid Khan's spin, the mystery of which the middle order batters could not decode. We saw plenty of tentative, ugly, under-confident shots and eventually they were bundled out for the second lowest score ever in the Men's Hundred.
The writing was pretty much on the wall there and then. After all, the pitch did not seem devious by any means. Yet, OI's the top three — Will Jacks, Tawanda Muyeye and Jordan Cox — were watchful. Liam Dawson succeeded in spinning a web around them and finished with excellent figures of 2/9 off his four sets. However, there weren't enough runs in the bank and eventually, the visitors got home with ease.
13.4 Luke Wood to Donovan Ferreira, SIX RUNS! FIRST WIN OF THE HUNDRED AND IN STYLE! OVAL INVINCIBLES GET IT DONE! Goes length around off with pace taken off. Ferreira gets in position, maintains a stable base and clubs it well over wide long-on for a maximum!
13.3 Luke Wood to Donovan Ferreira, length ball around off-stump with pace taken off. A big heave off the splice of the bat to wide mid-on, no run.
13.3 Luke Wood to Donovan Ferreira, way too short over off-stump. WIDE called, as Ferreira ducks under it to let it go!
13.2 Luke Wood to Sam Billings, short on off-stump. Billings uses the pace and dabs it over the in-field down to third man for one off the back foot.
13.1 Luke Wood to Sam Billings, over the wicket, FOUR RUNS! Good length and outside leg. Leg-glanced to the left of the keeper and away she goes to fine-leg for a boundary!
The defending champions are now a dozen runs away. A couple more wickets might just make it interesting... Not saying that the Spirit will pull it back... but hey, who doesn't want a bit of drama?
13.0
12.5 Ashton Turner to Donovan Ferreira, full and flat around off. Driven firmly to short extra cover off the front foot. A misfield allows for a single.
12.4 Ashton Turner to Donovan Ferreira, length ball around off. Slog-swept to the right of wide long-on now for a couple of runs.
12.3 Ashton Turner to Donovan Ferreira, over the wicket, full toss around off. Bunted back to the bowler off the front foot, from the toe end of the bat.
Donovan Ferreira batting at 6th position
Donovan Ferreira is in the side as a finisher. Can he finish this game off?
Surely, it is a little too late for a turnaround, isn't it? But what do they say? "Game of uncertainties"......
Sam Curran has been dismissed for 14 runs off 9 balls
12.2 Ashton Turner to Sam Curran, CASTLED! Good length and flat, on off-and-middle. Curran tried to hack that across the line but this one skidded on. The big shot got missed and clattered into the stumps!
With mid-on inside the circle, that shot was always on.
12.1 Ashton Turner to Sam Curran, round the wicket, FOUR RUNS! Tossed up around off. Curran smacks it off the front foot over the in-field and it goes away to long-on on one bounce for a boundary!
