That's all for today! This is Dwaipayan Mukherjee. A big thank you to my co-commentator Darpan Tikiya for bringing his A-game. We'll be back soon!
Sonny Baker : Massive win for us tonight. It has been a tough start to the competition so we are glad to change it around. The plan was to bowl fast and swing it around. I wanted to push it across Warner but he is good so I was nervous. He has been such a great player for so long and I knew he can cut you if you get too wide. Really good group of boys, I got retained from last time when I didn't play too much. Ever since I was young, I wanted to bowl fast. It will be a personal challenge to keep putting up the work and nudge up to the speed where all the big boys are.
9:22 PM local time, 1:52 AM IST: Manchester Originals (163 for 6) defeat London Spirit (153 for 6) by 10 runs
David Warner - 71 (51) | Josh Tongue - 3/29 Jamie Overton - 19 (7) | Sonny Baker - 1/21
London Spirit chased for the 11th time in their history but they have only won twice while batting 2nd. It all started with Sonny Baker - who has been coached by former England international and Northern Superchargers Head Coach Andrew Flintoff - and had pretty good things to say about the speedster. A solid start by the youngster, extracting wry smiles from Warner and no runs from the first 5 balls led to him going for an extended 10 ball operation right at the beginning of the chase.
Sonny Baker produced an absolute bowling masterclass against two of the best players of our era. Even the simplest things like rotating the strike seemed to be a task out there. Only 4 runs were scored from Baker's first 10 balls. Josh Tongue continued with some impressive bowling as well before Warner found the boundary ropes for the first time in the 13th ball of the innings. Williamson only faced 5 balls in the power play. In a chase of 164, they were 23 for no loss at the end of the power play.
Originals had amassed 57 in the said period during their batting essay. There was an acceleration post the fielding restrictions as the opening duo brought up their half century stand off 36 balls. At the halfway mark of the chase, the score read 73 for no loss. Williamson couldn't get going at all. He got stuck. He was the first to leave, scoring 19 runs from 20 balls, as the 75 run opening stand was broken by Josh Tongue. 2 fifties in 2 games put David Warner to the top of the run getters list in the tournament but when Baker returned later towards the end of the game, run scoring remained tough.
Warner eventually got dismissed for a well made 71 as none of the Spirit batters ever truly reached the required levels of scoring. Manchester Originals bowlers held their nerve for a deserving victory. They were an overpowered unit that finished the job for them. Jamie Overton provided them with a scare, with an untimely misfield to add some drama at the end but it's the men in black who register their first win of this season.
20.0
19.5 Scott Currie to Ollie Pope, pace-off ball on a full length. Pope glances it towards the front of square leg to get a run. But it does not matter. The Originals clinch victory and notch up their first points on the board this year.
19.4 Scott Currie to Liam Dawson, very full outside off. Dawson swings hard but can only squeeze it out to extra cover for a run.
19.4 Scott Currie to Liam Dawson, not done yet! Full ball down the leg side. Wide called. 13 to win off 2 balls. Two sixes to tie. Guess what? The replay shows it brushed the pad. Umpiring error.

Last wicket to fall was of Jamie Overton
19.3 Scott Currie to Jamie Overton, RUN OUT! Very full ball, tailing in towards the leg peg. Overton clipped it towards deep square leg and called for two. He was never making it. Buttler collected the throw and whipped the bails off.
19.2 Scott Currie to Jamie Overton, goes very full, at the off and middle. Ended up being a very low full toss. Overton could only hit it straight to mid-off.
19.1 Scott Currie to Jamie Overton, FOUR! 15 to win off 4 balls now. Good length, outside off. Hammered towards backward point with vehemence.
19 runs needed from 5 balls : Jamie Overton did not take the single in the last ball. Scott Currie to bowl the final five.
19.0
18.5 Sonny Baker to Jamie Overton, another attempted yorker, wide of off. Overton hammers it to deep backward point, where Klaasen did well to stop it. They don't take the single. Overton wants the strike. 19 to win off 5 balls.
18.4 Sonny Baker to Jamie Overton, FOUR! It is not done yet. Low full toss outside off. Overton clattered it to Currie at extra cover, who fumbled to let the ball through and it raced away to the fence.
18.3 Sonny Baker to Jamie Overton, PULLED FOR SIX! Overton is fighting it out for the Spirit. Back of a length, at the chest. Swatted over cow corner.
18.2 Sonny Baker to Ollie Pope, hard length ball slanting in at the body. Pope swipes across the line, misses and cops it on the body. Runs one as the ball rolls towards the on side. Runs signalled. So maybe, he got a glove on it.
