Commentary

Another cliffhanger in the IPL, the margin of the win might be misleading especially due to a phenomenal final over from Arshdeep Singh. 16 off the final over could have gone either way but Arshdeep was just too good. He could have been well been the Player of the Match as suggested by Curran. The IPL action continues tomorrow with another double header in store. We will also cover the ECS and the Vincy T10 matches. Sam Curran (Punjab Kings captain and Player of the Match): Well, pretty special. What an amazing game. The atmosphere and the support from MI are incredible. Nice to get the win under our belt. Personally, I think I should be getting the man of the match, especially with the way the boys finished the job well. I went bang bang in the last few overs, with Shikhar out we have to take responsibilities. Our group has started to come together. Hopefully, Skhikhar gets well soon. The coaches have created a great relaxed environment. There is still a long way to go and it’s important to not put too much pressure on ourselves.

Here's the man of the monent, Arshdeep Singh: Feels good whenever I take wickets. Right now, I feel more good since the team has won. The rhythm feels good since I changed my run-up a bit and it helped my no ball problem. My heart-rate wasn't even close to 120 (grins).

Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians captain): Little disappointed there. We made some errors on the field which can happen but we're not going to look too much into that. (What will be the message to the boys?) Just keep our heads high - we've played six games now, we've won three and lost three. Even-Stevens at the moment. We know there is a lot of time left in the tournament. We can't look down and start worrying about things. Yes we didn't come on top today. Like I said we made some errors but we'll look back at it. (On Green and SKY) Quite happy with the way these two guys batted today. It was important for us to keep us in the game and these two guys kept us in the game until the end. Got to give credit to Arshdeep for how he bowled the last couple of overs.

The Mumbai Indians needed a blistering power play to get anywhere close to the victory target. They had to chase 215 to win and the openers needed to get off to a flyer. Rohit Sharma struck a boundary of the final delivery of the opening over but Arshdeep Singh prized out Ishan Kishan in the 2nd over which put MI on the backfoot.

In came Cameron Green in the middle and in the company of Rohit, the duo started to make full use of the fielding restrictions. Green started off with some lusty blows and Rohit Sharma also came into his own. The duo got MI away off to a great start and the duo shared a 76 run-stand between them. Rohit was dismissed by Liam Livingstone against the run of play but that couldn’t turn the game in Punjab’s favour.

Suryakumar Yadav who was short of runs coming into the game out all guns blazing and started taking the Punjab bowlers to the cleaners. He struck some trademark Surykumar shots behind the wicket and square of the wicket and raced off to his fastest half-century in the competition. He was dismissed at a crucial juncture of the game which turned the game in Punjab’s favor.

Tim David was still there out in the middle and struck some humungous blows to keep their side within touching distance of the victory target. With 16 required off the final over, it could have gone either way but Arshdeep Singh held his nerves and bowled a sensational final over, bagging a couple of wickets and conceding just 2 runs from the over. In the end, it was a 13-run victory for the Punjab Kings.

It couldn't have got better than what Arshdeep Singh bowled there in the final over. He kept nailing his yorkers and none of the batters was about to get under those deliveries. Tilak Verma was castled by an inch-perfect yorker, Nehal Wadhera was introduced as the impact sub but he couldn't make an impact, getting bowled on the first delivery. It was all but over from there as they managed to win it by 13 runs.

It won't do though for the Mumbai Indians despite all their best efforts. Arshdeep Singh, you are a superstar! Punjab Kings prevail by 13 runs!

19.5 Arshdeep Singh to Jofra Archer, NAILS THE YORKER AGAIN! Comes around the wicket and executes the perfect yorker outside the off stump. Archer fails to bring his bat down on time and while it's not a hat-trick, the Kings can see the chequered flag!

Arshdeep nails another yorker and its mathematically impossible for MI to chase this down from here. Take a bow Arshdeep, what a stunning final over this has been. 15 required off 2 deliveries. Arshdeep has broken the middle stump twice in two balls and the stump cams needed a repair.

19.4 Arshdeep Singh to Nehal Wadhera, SHATTERS MIDDLE STUMP AGAIN! Arshdeep you freak! Goes full this time as it tails into middle stump. Not quite a yorker although Wadhera steps out and ends up yorking himself. He jams his bat down looking to muscle it, only for the ball to sneak past his blade and dismantle the middle pole again. It's a broken stump yet again and barring a wide or a no ball, Arshdeep has done it for Punjab Kings!

Nehal Wadhera, LHB comes out to the crease. He has come out as the Impact substitute in place of Jason Behrendorff.

What a stunning over this has been so far from Arshdeep Singh. He has feasted on bowling these final overs. Quite incredible from Arshdeep and the equation just getting dire from here. 15 required off 3 with Tim David off strike.

19.3 Arshdeep Singh to Tilak Varma, CASTLED WITH A RIPPING YORKER! He has made a shambolic mess of the middle pole! Inch-perfect yorker tailing into the base of middle stump as Tilak clears his front leg and swings across the line. He misses though as the ball smashes into middle stump and shatters it. It's a broken pole and we need reinforcements. More importantly, it keeps Tim David off strike! What a ball from Arshdeep!
