LSG vs DC Live Score, IPL 2023, Match 3 Updates: The Delhi Capitals were no match for the Lucknow Super Giants as the latter secured a clinical 50-run win. The heroics of Mayers in the first innings with the bat followed by Mark Wood's fiery pace proved to be the Capitals' downfall.

Right then, that's all that we have for you from this game! We hope you enjoyed our coverage! Join us back tomorrow for two more potentially riveting contests as SRH lock horns with RR while MI go up against RCB in the second game of the day.

23:52 (IST)1 APR 2023

Mark Wood, Player of the Match: Last time I was here, played for CSK and it didn't go quite well. Wanted to make an impact this time. (On his troubles with the landing area) It was no good for me. Definitely going to be a factor when we play here, the dew element. We practiced at night here and it has been like this. I was slipping more than I was expecting. Tried to keep it simple and follow a similar plan to what I have with England. Today, I was trying to keep my stride short because it was so wet. When you are worried about the front-line and whether you are going to slip, it does get into your mind!

23:49 (IST)1 APR 2023

Let's hear from the winning skipper, KL Rahul
It was a great start. We aren't too familiar with these conditions. Now, maybe after the win, you feel that. Now with the rules, you can choose the team after the toss. Felt we were 25-30 runs above par with the way Kyle batted. But the way they started, there was some due. We felt it could get easier for batting but came back well. The whole group actually. It was Woody's day. Got a five-wicket haul which is a dream for a bowler. It is important. We will take a lot of confidence from this. It is T20 cricket, you need to turn up everyday. We don't want to think too much about this!

23:42 (IST)1 APR 2023

Marcus Stoinis: What a brilliant start for us with our big boys firing and Woody bowling 160 ks. It was a nice feeling. (On Mayers' knock) That's what the coaches always say, nice problems to have. As long as we're winning, it's good. That was absolutely soapy (in the second half). We do practice under lights when we do the fielding out here. There's not much you can do. It's quite a sandy surface and the spikes skid through the surface. A couple of the boys slipped over. It's just about accepting it and practicing really. (On the pitch) It looked a little bit different on each end of the wicket. One end it seemed to spin a little bit more. Nicky Pooran gave himself two balls - he batted beautifully and Ayush Badoni as well. (Why didn't he bowl? Is he fit?) Everything's great, not required (grins).

23:33 (IST)1 APR 2023

Here's what the Capitals' skipper David Warner, had to say after the heavy defeat:
It was a bit of a challenge. We had some early momentum with the fast bowlers, they bowled very well in the powerplay. A few dropped catches and the momentum shifted there but you can't take anything away from Lucknow. They batted very very well. I thought 170 was par but they did an exceptional job. Momentum is a big thing in this game. Don't take it away from Woody, he's an exceptional bowler and he showed his true talent tonight and his experience. I feel on this wicket you're playing on two different surfaces from either end. We started very well. Our bowlers bowled exceptionally well. But when one guy goes big, he's a big strong boy (Mayers). He was hard to stop. We go back to Delhi in front of our home crowd. We have to assess the wicket there. Last time I was in Delhi back in 2010-11 it was low and slow. It looks like there's a bit of green grass there now with some dew coming in late in the night. That was a bit of a different wicket with the red ball and we'll forget about that (laughs when asked about the wicket at the Delhi Test last month).

23:30 (IST)1 APR 2023

Lucknow Super Giants win by 50 runs!

The Capitals innings got off to a fantastic start in the Power Play, with Shaw and Warner punishing any loose deliveries. However, come the fourth over, it was Mark Wood who was tossed the ball and he changed the complexion of the game completely. His pace proved to be too hot to handle for the Capitals as they struggled to face the sheer pace with which he bowlers. Warner continued playing a slow and steady knock but kept losing partners at the other end once the spinners came into operation.

Rilee played a good hand but was dismissed just as he was about to up the ante even further. Warner perished at a stage where his innings had perhaps already costed the Capitals the game. In the end, they face a massive 50-run defeat and will have to go back to the drawing board after this to sort out plenty of chinks in their armour.

23:24 (IST)1 APR 2023

FIVE FOR WOOD!

Whew! That's what sheer pace does! Nothing can discount that! A five-wicket haul for Wood and he has single-handedly rattled the Capitals! This time around, it's Chetan Sakariya who miscues the pull! One delivery remaining, can he convert it into a six-wicket haul?

23:20 (IST)1 APR 2023

Wood snaps up another!

And this time around, it's Axar Patel who has to depart who flicked one straight into the hands of the deep square leg fielder! What a dream start this has been for Mark Wood! He's gotten four already! Can he convert it into a five-fer?

Axar Patel c Prerak Mankad b Mark Wood 16 (11b, 1x4, 1x6)

23:11 (IST)1 APR 2023

DC at the cusp of losing the contest

With a couple of overs to go, Delhi will just look to minimise the damage now. Axar Patel is in the middle and is dealing the heavy blows but DC have just been below-par this entire contest.

DC 131/7 (18)

23:04 (IST)1 APR 2023

DC 113/7 (16)

It is an uphill battle for DC from here on and the loss of David Warner is certainly not going to help matters for them. It would seem like a foregone conclusion now and all DC can do is perhaps reduce the margin of defeat so that it does not affect their NRR too much.

22:50 (IST)1 APR 2023

Delhi Capitals need 98 runs in 6 overs!

Matters getting increasingly difficult for the men in red and blue. Warner and Aman Khan are in the middle now. Can we expect a recovery from the Capitals? Or is it far too late?

DC 96/5 (14)

22:48 (IST)1 APR 2023

LSG in command! Powell departs!

A googly and Powell played all around it! Gets rapped on the pads and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger. Bishnoi gets another wicket to his name! The West Indian departs without making a mark in this game.

Rovman Powell lbw b Ravi Bishnoi 1 (3b, 0x4, 0x6)

22:39 (IST)1 APR 2023

LSG REVIEW!

Russouw walked across and looked to sweep it but missed it. Not given out on the field but as soon as KL Rahul signals the 'T' to the umpire, Rilee has started walking off the ground. Well, well, well! It's not an LBW! As Rilee finished the sweep, the ball got some part of his bat which was then caught by Mayers. Off the back of the bat! Big wicket!

Rilee Russow c Kyle Mayers b Ravi Bishnoi 30 (20b, 3x4, 1x6)

22:28 (IST)1 APR 2023

Russouw turning on the heat!

The time to get the big hits in is now for the Capitals and Russouw is not disappointing! Takes Bishnoi for a massive 17-run over as Capitals look to claw their way back into the contest. With Powell and Axar yet to come, it would be unwise to rule DC out.

DC 75/4 (10)

22:20 (IST)1 APR 2023

DC 58/3 (9)

Spinners in operation now as Delhi Capitals look to rebuild. However, they cannot afford to spend too much time, as the required run rate has already gone above 12 RPO. Warner has had plenty of time to settle in now and should look to switch gears if DC want to win this game.

22:13 (IST)1 APR 2023

OUT! Sarfaraz departs!

A searing bouncer and Sarfaraz's attempted upper-cut is to no avail as he is cramped for room. Somehow manages to get some bat onto it and the fielder at long leg gobbles it up. Sarfaraz has to walk back to the pavilion!

Sarfaraz Khan c K Gowtham b Mark Wood 4 (9b, 1x4, 0x6)

22:07 (IST)1 APR 2023

FOUR! Sarfaraz gets going!

He's up and running as the Capitals look to recover from the twin setbacks. A power play that consisted of two parts - the first four overs where DC garnered 40 runs and the next two, where they lost a couple of wickets and managed only seven runs. Momentum in favour of the Super Giants currently. They will need to find a way to make a comeback.

DC 47/2 (6)

22:02 (IST)1 APR 2023

BEATEN FOR PACE! TWO IN TWO FOR WOOD!

Sheer display of fast bowling from Mark Wood and he gets two on the trot! Two wickets in two deliveries and LSG are roaring back into the contest courtesy of Wood's pace! Whew! Marsh and Shaw have to make their way back to the pavilion!

Prithvi Shaw b Mark Wood 12 (9b, 2x4, 0x6)
Mitchell Marsh b Mark Wood 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6)

21:51 (IST)1 APR 2023

DC 40/0 (4)

A quiet over from Avesh Khan promised to lead an LSG recovery but an inside edge that raced away to the boundary off the final delivery results in the Capitals maintaining a run rate of 10 RPO. LSG will be hunting for a wicket or two here.

21:43 (IST)1 APR 2023

Intent straightaway!

As opposed to the Super Giants, the Capitals are off to a flier! The presence of dew can be felt right from the onset of the innings. Mayers and Unadkat not being disciplined with their lines and the DC openers don't hold back!

DC 24/0 (2)

21:30 (IST)1 APR 2023

Here's what the star of the first innings, Kyle Mayers, had to say: Think it was a tricky surface. Was sticking, skidding on sometimes and also there is variable bounce. The spinners need to execute from the drier end. It is a new surface. I try to get some inputs from the guys. Always good to get some luck. Happy to get this opportunity, wanted to do well and I did that!

21:25 (IST)1 APR 2023

Lucknow Super Giants 193/6 (20)
Delhi Capitals need 194 runs to win from 20 overs

The Super Giants will definitely be the happier side going into the innings break. They started off pretty slowly and at one point, it seemed like they would trudge along to a total in the 160s. However, Mayers - who struggled to time the ball initially, found his footing and made the Capitals pay for his dropped catch. A whirlwind knock of 73 runs from him was followed by his West Indies teammate Nicholas Pooran scoring a quick fire 36 runs. Finishing touches were added by the lower middle order and the Super Giants will look to trot out and defend this total.

As for Delhi, they certainly were not able to keep the pressure on after the power play. They pulled matters back but let it out of their hands again in the death. Their bowling seemed pretty rusty while the fielding was sloppy to say the least. The dropped catch of Mayers costed the side a whopping 59 runs. Sarfaraz fumbled a few behind the stumps as well and the Capitals can hope that he comes good with the bat in hand. They will need a formidable start and a consistent showing if they are to chase this. They've got plenty of big hitters too and it will be interesting to see how the second innings pans out.

21:18 (IST)1 APR 2023

Sent high into the night sky!

Krishnappa Gowtham indeed makes an 'impact' and ensures that the total goes over 190 runs after what was quite a slow start.

LSG 193/6 (20)

21:17 (IST)1 APR 2023

IMPACT PLAYER!!

The Super Giants use their Impact Player as well now, Krishnappa Gowtham comes in for the last delivery of the match. He will have one opportunity to finish it in grand style!

21:16 (IST)1 APR 2023

SIX, SIX, OUT!

Ayush Badoni attempts a cheeky lap but cannot get it off the middle of his bat as he has to walk back to the pavilion,  but not before smacking two fantastic maximums!

Ayush Badoni c Sarfaraz Khan b Chetan Sakariya 18 (7b, 1x4, 2x6)

21:09 (IST)1 APR 2023

IMPACT PLAYER!

Delhi have bought on their impact player, Aman Khan, in place of Khaleel Ahmed to field for the final over.
The first impact player substitution we've seen thus far in the first innings!

21:08 (IST)1 APR 2023

Can LSG get a big finish?

14 runs off the penultimate over but they lose Pooran too. Ayush Badoni and Krunal are in the middle as LSG look to go past the 180-run mark. This has been quite a good batting performance by LSG!

LSG 171/5 (19)

21:05 (IST)1 APR 2023

OUT!! Pooran's cameo ends!

Slapped hard by Pooran but it is straight into the hands of Prithvi Shaw at cover! Even a few inches to the left or the right could've seen the ball race away to the boundary!

Nicholas Pooran c Prithvi Shaw b Khaleel Ahmed 36 (21b, 2x4, 3x6)

20:58 (IST)1 APR 2023

OOF! That's gotta hurt!

Absolutely blasted by Pooran straight back and Krunal takes a huge blow on his pads, one that sweeps him off his feet! Thankfully, he got hit on the pads, which provided ample protection.

20:56 (IST)1 APR 2023

IN THE SLOT AND DISPATCHED!

The white cherry has been sent soaring into the night sky courtesy of Pooran, who decides to target the young Chetan Sakariya. West Indian players making merry tonight! Are we in for a Powell special too later in the night?

LSG 150/4 (17)

20:47 (IST)1 APR 2023

LSG 131/4 (16)

After the wicket of Mayers, the LSG innings has lost a little steam. Pooran looks in good touch as he smacked a boundary and a maximum to Khaleel Ahmed. Last four overs and LSG will surely be targeting a score in excess of 165. Wickets will be key for the Capitals if they wish to restrict LSG to a par total here.

20:39 (IST)1 APR 2023

Khaleel strikes! Stoinis departs cheaply!

The Australian chases one outside off and throws the kitchen sink at it only to edge it to Sarfaraz, who does well to hold on. Khaleel is pumped and picks up a wicket off the first delivery of his second spell! Stoinis will be disappointed certainly!

Marcus Stoinis c Sarfaraz Khan b Khaleel Ahmed 12 (10b, 0x4, 1x6)

20:37 (IST)1 APR 2023

DC starting to claw their way back

19 runs off the last three overs as Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis look to build a partnership to lay the foundation for a big finish.

LSG 117/3 (14)

20:26 (IST)1 APR 2023

RIPPER BY AXAR TO SEND BACK MAYERS!

What a delivery! Absolutely unplayable! Came from around the wicket, wide of the crease. The ball grips and turns massively as it goes past Mayers' inside edge and rattles the stumps! And Axar lets out a roar!

Kyle Mayers b Axar Patel 73 (38b, 2x4, 7x6)

20:24 (IST)1 APR 2023

OUT! Hooda departs!

Couldn't really get going and perishes as he tries to up the ante, does Deepak Hooda. Kuldeep strikes after being taken to the cleaners earlier in the over by Mayers.

Deepak Hooda c David Warner b Kuldeep Yadav 17 (18b, 0x4, 0x6)

LSG 98/2 (11)

20:19 (IST)1 APR 2023

MAYERS MANIA!
Another couple of monstrous hits from the West Indian and from playing at under a run-a-ball, Mayers is now batting with a Strike Rate of 200! Now that's what you call acceleration! DC must avoid bowling Axar to the left-hander.

LSG 89/1 (10)

20:15 (IST)1 APR 2023

HALF CENTURY FOR MAYERS!
On debut, it is Kyle Mayers who breaches the 50-run mark and does it in style too - slog-sweeping one over deep square leg to get to the landmark! Kuldeep fails to put a halt on the flow of runs as LSG continue going about their merry ways.

LSG 73/1 (9)

20:11 (IST)1 APR 2023

Whew! Mayers continues his onslaught!
Axar concedes 14 off that over as Mayers kicks it off with a boundary and maximum. Perhaps bringing Kuldeep against Mayers could have proven to be more effective. All the built pressure is being released here!

LSG 60/1 (8)

20:05 (IST)1 APR 2023

Kyle Mayers is shifting gears!
Khaleel will be regretting dropping that catch now as Mayers absolutely smacks a couple of huge maximums in the over. Punishes Mukesh Kumar, who concedes a massive 16-run over!

LSG 46/1 (7)

20:01 (IST)1 APR 2023

LSG 30/1 (6)

Quite a slow start for the Super Giants and to be fair, the wicket has not been easy to bat on. The Capitals have been pretty sloppy in the field and will need to get their act together. The batters might look to build a partnership here.

19:59 (IST)1 APR 2023

DROPPED! Khaleel Ahmed the culprit!
An absolute sitter at short third man and Sakariya is denied of his second wicket. Kyle Mayers get another life! The Capitals' fielding has just not been upto the mark today!

19:51 (IST)1 APR 2023

OUT! Chetan Sakariya has his man!
His match-up against KL Rahul has worked beautifully as a miscued pull lands straight into the safe hands of Axar Patel at deep square leg! A maximum initially and almost immediately, the LSG skipper has to depart.

KL Rahul c Axar Patel b Chetan Sakariya 8 (12b, 0x4, 1x6)

LSG 19/1 (4)

19:49 (IST)1 APR 2023

MAXIMUM!
KL Rahul sends a full delivery from Chetan Sakariya packing well into the stands! A lot of debate will surely be made surrounding KL's strike rate. It will be interesting to see the tempo at which he plays going forward.

19:45 (IST)1 APR 2023

FOUR!
Something had to give and it is Kyle Mayers who finally gets going with a pull shot that sends the ball to the boundary rope! The Ekana crowd is overjoyed. Something to cheer for them!

LSG 12/0 (3)

19:40 (IST)1 APR 2023

LSG 6/0 (2)

Some appreciable swing extracted by Mukesh Kumar and a couple of misfields gift Kyle Mayers a few runs.

19:34 (IST)1 APR 2023

Quiet Start
In front of their home crowd, the Super Giants cannot get off to a cracking start as Khaleel keeps matters tight. Both batters looking to get their eye in at the moment.

LSG 1/0 (1)

19:29 (IST)1 APR 2023

Khaleel Ahmed will start proceedings with the new cherry in hand. Here we go!

19:28 (IST)1 APR 2023
