5 current superstars who could be WWE's Georges St-Pierre

Georges St-Pierre
GSP has done some great things for the UFC

In terms of icons within the world of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, there aren't many bigger than Georges St-Pierre. Obviously the last few years haven't been great in terms of cementing his legacy, but the guy should be applauded for all the great things he's done for the world of mixed martial arts. He's a professional, he's classy and he may well be the greatest MMA fighter in the history of the sport.

So if we try and translate that over to WWE, who are the contenders to be the next GSP? It's difficult considering the two companies work in extremely different ways, but in terms of the clean cut hero there are certainly a few candidates.

Whilst everyone does indeed have a past, strictly in a business sense and as a genuine human being these guys top the list above all others.

That's not to say there aren't more than five superstars that fit this category, either. The WWE is full of young and hungry guys who are scrapping to get to the top, and seeing that passion and drive would likely remind GSP of a younger version of himself.

Regardless, the talent pool in that company is stacked right now and only a few men can ascend to the very top.

With that in mind, let's take a look at five current superstars who could be WWE's version of Georges St-Pierre.

#5 Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins
Rollins has shown that he has what it takes to be the man

The Architect Seth Rollins is one of the most talented guys the WWE have had in their possession for years. His time in NXT, the main roster and even FCW shows just what an asset he is no matter whether the guy is working as a babyface or a heel. He's smart, has a great relationship with the WWE Universe and is one of the first names people come out with when talking about their favourite superstars.

In terms of the rest of this list Rollins may just be a step or too behind them, but in terms of being one of the greatest of all time he's already well on his way to accomplishing that. The WrestleMania main event, the triumphant return and his in-ring prowess are three of many reasons that he's set for superstardom in the years to come with WWE.

Onto one of the fresher stars in the "new era".

#4 Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan
Jordan is on a rocket ship headed to the top

When it comes to tag team wrestling in the present day, there are few people that are better than Jason Jordan right now. Whilst his partnership with Chad Gable is what put him on the map, Jordan's individual talent and "hot tag" ability makes him an extremely valuable member of the WWE roster.

Plus, the rumblings have already begun when it comes to his singles career.

Jordan has been in the WWE for a long time now, and he defines what it means to be a clean cut babyface that loves what he does. He has a talented background in the sport, almost always puts on top performances and will never give up no matter how hard the circumstances. If you're looking for stars to lead the main event scene into a new generation, start with Jason Jordan.

To another man who came straight out of the NXT system and found success.

#3 Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn
Zayn, much like GSP, is Canadian – it’s written in the stars

The man who has the greatest entrance theme song known to mankind. Sami Zayn, also known as the underdog from the underground. The former indie star is one of the best natural babyfaces WWE have produced in years, and many are calling him the next Daniel Bryan when it comes to shooting all the way up to main event levels of success.

Whilst he hasn't quite reached that pinnacle yet, it's definitely coming.

Zayn is young, hungry and has the perfect attitude when it comes to the business and respecting his peers. He already does alot of great work outside the ring, and he's the model professional that all young superstars should look up to when trying to get into the business. In terms of grabbing that supposed brass ring, Sami is full of momentum.

Onto a guy who knows a thing or two about that brass ring comment.

#2 - Cesaro

Cesaro
Cesaro is built for success in this business

The King of Swing. Cesaro is one of the most underutilised superstars in the history of the company, and people who debate that always come out with the same thing - mic work. Regardless of what you think of him as a performer, Cesaro has proven that in certain situations he can more than hold his own on the mic as well as being a great role model for the stars of tomorrow.

In terms of his natural ability in the ring, he's second to none.

The Swiss superstar has a great attitude, is full of charisma and can do things that not many people in the industry can do which is very similar to the man we're talking about - Georges St-Pierre. He has the look and all the tools necessary to succeed, and now it's just about WWE trusting him with the ball and letting him run with it.

We finish with the man who, whilst some people may not like him, is definitely the best man for the job.

#1 - John Cena

John Cena
Cena’s image in the eyes of WWE will likely never be tarnished

If you look up "company man", the definition will likely just contain two words - John Cena. The 15-time World Champion is the personification of a stand up citizen, whilst also simultaneously being one of the best big match performers WWE have on their entire roster.

Cena has grown as the years have gone on, developing his all-round ability in order to fit in with whatever superstar he may be in the ring with.

Cena is there to advance the product, help younger talent and leave the WWE in a better place than when he found it which is exactly the kind of guy you want heading up your roster. Alot of people hate the former Doctor of Thuganomics, but there's no way that you can deny his credentials when it comes to him being WWE's answer to GSP.
