Alex Pereira recently opened up about fellow UFC middleweight and former foe Sean Strickland.

In late November, the newly crowned UFC middleweight champion admitted that Strickland, whom he fought at UFC 276 earlier this year, was the only opponent who truly instilled a sense of fear in him.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee, 'Poatan' was asked to share his assessment of Strickland as a person. Pereira said that despite the strange ways of his former opponent, he appeared to be a down-to-earth human being:

"He seems like a humble guy, and he has that little bit of way about him, doing little crazy [things] like that. It's his style, and it doesn't bother me."

Sean Strickland is known to be a brash and controversial figure, with his colorful language, extreme opinions and questionable love of sparring. While the American may attract attention through his brazen admissions, Strickland does appear to have a certain level of self-awareness.

While he has stated that Alex Pereira won't be the UFC middleweight champion for long, he has always remained complimentary of the new middleweight king.

Alex Pereira claims Darren Till is 'too small' for middleweight after meeting the Brit

Alex Pereira is notoriously massive for a middleweight fighter, and somehow appeared to tower over a 6ft.4" Israel Adesanya when they fought at UFC 281. 'Poatan' weighed in at 184.6 lbs. for his recent fight with 'The Last Stylebender', and gained almost 30 lbs. in weight before stepping into the octagon the next day.

Pereira is currently in Las Vegas to attend UFC 282 this weekend, and has met several fighters who will be fighting at the pay-per-view, including fellow middleweight Darren Till.

In a recent interview with The Schmo, Pereira stated that when he met Till, he assumed that he fights at welterweight due to his size. 'Poatan' spoke in Portuguese, but his answer was translated into English by Glover Teixeira, who said:

"Sometimes Pereira does [Instagram] stories, and Darren Till was in the background. And fans asked [Pereira], 'Hey how was it meeting that guy?' And Pereira is like, 'Who? That guy there? He's not a middleweight, he's a welterweight no?' Pereira thinks he is too small for 185."

Darren Till made his debut in the UFC at welterweight in 2015, when he was just 22 years old. 'The Gorilla' then moved up to 185 lbs. in 2019, due to the severity of weight cuts at welterweight.
