Brandon Moreno has opened up about parting ways with Glory MMA coach James Krause.

In the aftermath of UFC Vegas 64, all UFC fighters were banned from training with Krause until an investigation into an alleged betting scandal was finalized. The most notable fighter affected was UFC interim flyweight champion Brandon Moreno, who is looking to become the undisputed king against Deiveson Figueiredo on January 21.

‘The Assassin Baby’ joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to discuss his championship fight at UFC 283. He had this to say about the Krause situation:

“It was hard when everything started. Of course, everything was a little bit hard… I had a long conversation with James. He told me all of the situation, and I understood, but at that moment, I decided to turn the page quickly and decide what I wanted to do…”

Moreno’s fourth fight against Figueiredo was announced in late October, and Krause was banned in early December. ‘The Assassin Baby’ revealed that the Glory MMA coach has already created the gameplan for UFC 283:

“The good part was that the gameplan was already done, so man, I was ready to go by myself with my coaches. Go straight to Rio and take the fight… I’m ready to fight. All of this training camp, I feel like the best training camp of my life because it was hard, but at the same time, it was a very smart training camp…”

Losing Krause is a brutal blow for arguably Moreno’s most important fight ever. The 29-year-old will enter a career-defining moment against Figueiredo, with their first three fights leading to a 1-1-1 outcome. The winner at UFC 283 would secure another world title victory while ending the flyweight rivalry.

Brandon Moreno announces he is working with Sayif Saud of Fortis MMA

Brandon Moreno is represented by Jason House of Iridium Sports Agency. Although Moreno was confident without a highly-experienced cornerman, House was slightly concerned. ‘The Assasin Baby’ had this to say on The MMA Hour:

“I was talking with Jason [House], and we have like kind of deep conversation. [House said] Hey man, I understand you feel ready to fight, and you are ready to go straight like that with your coaches, but man, I feel like we need somebody with experience because you never know what can happen in the middle of the fight… I decided to work with Sayif [Saud], the coach from Fortis MMA.”

Sayif Saud was a phenomenal choice by Moreno. The Fortis MMA coach has tons of experience coaching UFC fighters, including Ryan Spann, Damon Jackson, Geoff Neal, and many more. It’ll be intriguing to see if ‘The Assasin Baby’ can overcome adversity and win at UFC 283.
