Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda's daily MMA News Roundup, where we present the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.

In today's issue, we talk about Islam Makhachev's new record, Conor McGregor feeling a tinge of regret about his championship reign, and more.

#3. Rapper Lil Wayne was all done with the UFC, but his boycott was short-lived

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., better known as Lil Wayne, was one of the many who were upset about the UFC 284 main event results. The rap sensation took to Twitter to express his disappointment. In fact, he went as far as vowing to never watch UFC again.

He believes Alexander Volkanovski won the fight and was wronged by the judges.

However, he went back on his words as he soon remembered that both Jon Jones and Conor McGregor were returning to action this year. He also sounded excited about the Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira rematch.

You are never a true MMA fan if you don't have such a begrudging, love-hate equation with the sport, are you?

#2. Islam Makhachev achieved a huge record amid the madness of UFC 284

The magnitude of Saturday night's headliner almost shrouded Islam Makhachev's newest achievement, but it is not a feat to be casually dusted under the carpet. With his first successful lightweight title defense, Makhachev became the fighter with the longest active win streak in the promotion.

Ironically, the record was previously held by his rival, Alexander Volkanovski. Before that, Kamaru Usman was the proud owner of the record. He was on the precipice of overtaking Anderson Silva's longest-ever streak of 16 wins when Leon Edwards' head kick took his dream (and his belt) away.

#1. Conor McGregor wishes he fought for the title in Australia

Conor McGregor prefers to stay relevant by tweeting out his opinions during pay-per-views every month. Now that his return has been announced, one can expect McGregor to be even more active on social media.

After Saturday night's lightweight barnburner between Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev, the Irishman took to Twitter to congratulate both. While at it, he also expressed regret over not being able to fight in Perth, Australia with his former titles on the line.

The tweet is uncharacteristic of 'The Notorious', as he often chooses to bring out his old trash-talking self in these situations. One might wonder if 'Mr. Nice Guy' is about to make a comeback, with a fight with Michael Chandler on the horizon.
