Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda's daily MMA News Roundup, where we present the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.

In today's issue, we talk about the UFC 285 card, Andrew Tate's current health status, and more.

#3. UFC 285 sees a major upset, a glorious return, and some Hollywood shooting

UFC 285, despite some apprehensions, delivered on its promise of being a fantastic card.

Flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko's indomitable aura was finally dimmed down by underdog Alexa Grasso. Although she lost her last fight against Shevchenko, Taila Santos showed that 'Bullet' wasn't as unstoppable as fans hailed her to be. In fact, many in the MMA community thought that the Brazilian had won that fight.

Grasso finally hit the nail on the coffin with a clinical face crank in the fourth round. In doing so, she achieved what even Amanda Nunes could not, i.e., finishing Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC fans could barely recover from the upset when Jon Jones walked out for his heavyweight debut. Making quick work of Ciryl Gane, 'Bones' showed why he is considered the greatest fighter of all time. As Alexander Volkanovski deftly put it, Saturday night was about "Jon Jones doing Jon Jones things."

Earlier in the night, during the preliminary card, Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal made an appearance once again to shoot a scene for his upcoming movie Road House. In a dramatic sequence, he knocked out his opponent with a flying knee after being cornered against the cage. He even landed a flurry of illegal shots after the referee waived the fight off.

One can assume that it would only look more fascinating on the big screen, but in the real world, that would get a fighter disqualified real quick.

#2. Andrew Tate is part of a second police investigation in Romania

Andrew Tate's lawyer Tina Glandian recently told Fox News that 'Top G' is involved in another active case in Romania other than the one everyone is talking about.

She revealed that contrary to popular knowledge, the investigations against Tate began as early as April last year and not December. Around that time, the Tate brothers launched a criminal complaint against the woman accusing them.

"At that point, the brothers filed criminal cases against the two women who had falsely accused them. Many people have not heard about these criminal complaints. They are active and open as another investigation in Romania right now."

Glandian also disclosed in the interview that the Romanian authorities can extend Tate's detention up to 180 days without formally charging them.

#1. Bo Nickal's debut faces low-blow controversy

Bo Nickal lived up to his big claims when he ran through Jamie Pickett in his UFC debut last night.

Nickal took Pickett where he knows the terrain best - to the mat - but the takedown that led to it came in the wake of an alleged low blow. Just a minute into the fight, Nickal seemingly landed a knee on Pickett's groin, but the referee missed the shot, and no timeout was given.

After the fight, USA Today's Nolan King reported that Pickett's team will be appealing the result of the bout to NSAC.

In the post-fight press conference, Bo Nickal denied landing the low blow and claimed that it was a hit on the thigh.

"I hit in the leg, in the thigh... If I had actually hit him low, I'd have felt bad. I don't wanna win like that. I'm not a cheater."
